Are any of these to be reissued soon?

Eric Dolphy -- Magic

Art Farmer -- Meet the Jazztet

Max Roach -- Freedom Now Suite

George Russell -- Jazz in the Space Age

On the plus side, the Modern Jazz Quartet's "European Concert" is finally getting released on 11/15. I don't know if anybody else is excited about this, but I am.

Dolphy's 'Magic' was a 70's twofer reissue of Eric Dolphy - 'Far Cry' and Ron Carter 'Where'. Both of those titles have been available for many years as part of the OJC reissue series on Fantasy (now owned by Concord). You shouldn't have any problem finding them.

Excellent -- I didn't know that the Dolphy album was a comp -- I just saw it in Dolphy's catalog and knew I didn't have it. Thank you.

I just picked up a copy of the George Russell CD about a month ago (GRP version -- still sealed). Copies may be still out there even though its OOP.

Happy Hunting!! :)

Like an idiot, I bought the 'iTunes-only' version of the Russell, without checking to see if I could hunt down the CD. Why am I an idiot? Because, as posted elsewhere, the iTunes version is defective: the breaks in the tracks are not at the proper place, e.g. the ending of track 1 is located at the beginning of track 2. Last time I buy a full album on iTunes - I'll just use it to buy alternates I don't have.

As for the Roach, it can be obtained in Europe, but as discussed in another thread, it was remastered from vinyl, and a rather scratchy copy at that. Does this mean the master tapes are lost, or could they be in the hands of some private collector?

Thanks for the info, though I should probably make clear that if an album is not available domestically (the US), I don't consider it to be in print. I buy lots of CDS and if I got into the habit of buying everything I want that is out there -- somewhere -- I'd go broke. So, if I have to pay upwards of $30 for a CD that should cost $10, I don't consider it to exist.

Art Farmer -- Meet the Jazztet

This was available on CD a few years ago, and is included in the Mosaic Art Farmer/Benny Golson box.

Yes, I bought this (at Tower, I believe) three or four years ago. It would be sad to think that it's now only available in the Mosaic box.
