Jim Alfredson Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 It won't be "released" until Nov. 8th, but you can now order our latest CD "This Is The Place" from Amazon, CDUniverse, CDNow, Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc. Just go to your favorite retailer and order away! ps. I have a note to our distributor regarding the pricing discrepency between Amazon and the other retailers. I'm not sure why they are selling it for so much. Dan Gould Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Time to wallpaper Amazon with some reviews! Quote
Soul Stream Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Great job Jim on getting a real distributor. That seems to be the fly in the ointment for most independent releases. Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 ps. I have a note to our distributor regarding the pricing discrepency between Amazon and the other retailers. I'm not sure why they are selling it for so much. Calling it a discrepancy is a nice way of putting it... Like Randy, I'd call it greed. By the way, congratulations Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 I don't think it's greed, I think that Amazon is selling the CD for the suggest list price (which is $15.98). As we all know, things rarely sell for the SLP. I'm awaiting to hear from our distributor. Quote

skeith Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Does anyone know if Tower Records or J&R Music World is carrying "This is the Place" in their NYC stores?? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 17, 2005 Author Report Posted November 17, 2005 I don't think the copies are physically IN the stores, but they can order it for you if you ask, I am sure of that. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 17, 2005 Author Report Posted November 17, 2005 And if enough people ask that it be ordered, then they would stock it. Quote
skeith Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 (edited) Jim I went to J&R Music World today in Manhattan to ask about ordering this cd. They have a good selection there and they have ordered harder to get things for me in the past. I was surprised when they said there was "nothing in the computer" etc. etc. they asked if I can get the label and a UPC code and other info. Do you have this and what is it all about? Edited November 29, 2005 by skeith Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 29, 2005 Author Report Posted November 29, 2005 Hmm... supposedly it is in the four most popular databases that retailers use to order CDs. The UPC code is 634479132230 and it's on the Big O Records label. Strange... Quote
7/4 Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I think J&R uses their own database. The Classical label Mode has been releasing DVD versons of some CD releases. I was there yesterday looking for a Xenekis DVD of electronic music, they didn't stock that (they did have the CD, no thank you) but they did have Morton Feldman's Triadic Memories on DVD. The woman who was stocking the dept. said the Xenekis wasn't in the computer and they mostly stocked what they thought would sell. I noticed no Hat Hut and a few smaller labels missing. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 29, 2005 Author Report Posted November 29, 2005 But but but.... Big O Records is BIG! Hence the name! Quote
7/4 Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Why do I hear someone moaning in the background? Quote
BeBop Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Have you considered selling your next CD exclusively through Starbucks? (Yes, I am kidding.) Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 From what I've heard the big "O" don't have nothing to do with cds. Quote
BeBop Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 (edited) From what I've heard the big "O" don't have nothing to do with cds. From what you've heard? Then no first-hand experience? Uh, never mind. Edited November 29, 2005 by BeBop Quote

brownie Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 Listed but not available right now at Amazon.fr Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 30, 2005 Author Report Posted November 30, 2005 It is available. It says it's not, but it is. What that means is that Amazon doesn't have any in-stock. But if you order it, they'll get it. It's kind of annoying. Quote

They told me they are unable to get this CD under any circumstances. Quote
