Alfred Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 This is a good deal (at least for us Europeans) at www.jpc.de. Farlow, Eldridge & Farmer/Golson 7CD-sets for € 59.99 each: >>> klick <<< The Reprise/Elligton is still available for € 64.99 (Achtung: longbox SPIEGEL-Edition!!!). The Basie Fifities studio set for € 79.99. >>> klick <<< Quote
Alfred Posted October 15, 2005 Author Report Posted October 15, 2005 ... and my favorite Osby for €5.99: >>> Further Ado <<< Quote
sidewinder Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Thanks Alfred . These guys have even undercut caiman. £40 for the Farmer/Golson is less than half the price seen in UK stores such as HMV. 'Fill your boots' time. Quote
sidewinder Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 I've gone for the Farmer/Golson, Basie and Eldridge. I was planning to hold out for caiman on these but with £6 shipping for the whole lot to UK and no tax to pay, this is a great deal. Quote
Tony Pusey Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Alas, no longer available...... Quote
couw Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Alas, no longer available...... ← oh they are, but the search that Alfred posted isn't. Just do a new search Quote
tjobbe Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 ... and my favorite Osby for €5.99: >>> Further Ado <<< ← this is at 5,99 since more than a year Alfred but those "Complete Verve" are a steal....let me ask my bank about a personal credit .... Cheers, Tjobbe Quote
mikeweil Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 link Posting links to search results on JPC website won't work - the search expires very soon. You have to post links to the pages of individual albums, and these, as the link to the Farmer/Golson above shows, are still available at that price. Quote
neveronfriday Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 (edited) I bought mine there a while back (actually a tiny bit cheaper) and a) they are still available and b) service is fast and professional. I've ordered tons from these guys (who actually also run other sites such as the Karstadt one (at least they used to ... same shop, same prices, different colors (blue)), and they've always had very good prices on especially their offers pages (they also have some great classical stuff ... the other day I bought an Anner Bylsma 10-CD Sony box for 9,95 (now 19 and something, I think)). Highly recommended! Edited October 15, 2005 by neveronfriday Quote

Highly recommended! ← My experiences with JPC are not so positive. They overcharged my credit card on a few occasions, which they told me was (is?) their policy with foreign orders, even though they didn't have the items I ordered and had put them on back order for an infinite period of time. I had to move heaven and earth to get refunds. Edited October 15, 2005 by J.A.W. Quote
brownie Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 At that price, the Basie box looks more than tempting. May jump on it as soon as my bank account tolerates this. Hope it won't be too late! Thanks for the various advices... Quote
sidewinder Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 I'll report back when I receive the boxes. Fingers crossed. Quote
JohnS Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Thanks for the link Alfred. Ordered the Jazztet. Didn't find the website too intuitive for someone without any knowledge of German but I seem to have managed it. Quote

JohnS Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Thanks Hans, the language links were just off the screen. What an idiot!! I'll know better next time. Quote
Claude Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Thanks Alfred! I ordered the Jazztet set. It is more than twice as expensive at amazon.de Quote
sidewinder Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 I got an email sales order back from them - so far things seem to be proceeding OK. Quote
tjobbe Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 so... my Jazztet is now in stock and seems to be ready for delivery thx again Alfred ! Cheers, Tjobbe Quote
king ubu Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Do they deduct "Mehrwertsteuer" for foreign orders? Amazon does - it's 12% or something similarly crazy, and the mad(wo)men you just elected plan to raise it even higher! Quote
tjobbe Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 (edited) 12% ....man I cannot remember those good old times. I think we are at 16% (although you can never be to sure about it ) but from their help page: If the delivery is sent to a country outside of the EU, you do not need to pay taxes; it is automatically removed from the invoice. which should answer your question I guess. Cheers, Tjobbe ← Thanks! The Basie would be a steal, but... I just decided against getting it *now* - I hope JPC has the sets for a while! 16% and rising, my God! And now with the "grosse Koalition" and Stoiber sabotaging everything, they will probably raise it to 50% in order to be able to skip any necessary reforms... and it's such an utterly *fair* form of paying taxes, istn't it? First of all it's clear to everybody why and what for one pays it, and second - and that's the best part of it - everybody pays the same amount. That's what I call leninist-trotzkist! Quote

king ubu Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 I was uhm... sort of carried away, it seems! Apologies! But still I don't consider VAT a valuable instrument of politics, really. It's just a lame excuse... Quote
brownie Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 (edited) What are you people complaining about?!? VAT on music albums in France remains at a scandalous 19.6 percent! Probably an EU record VAT on books and other 'cultural products' remains at 5.5. But musics records are not considered as being part of the 'culture' Edited October 19, 2005 by brownie Quote
