Rooster_Ties Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I've had this Avatar longer than any prior. My habit was to change it about once ever week or two, usually to various album covers. What should I do??? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted July 10, 2003 Author Report Posted July 10, 2003 For the record, the full-size version of my current Avatar is this... Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 while in keeping with your blue-period you could go max zillion! Quote
Alexander Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I certainly understand the value of change, but I really enjoy that image. Keep it, maybe not forever, but for a good long time. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted July 10, 2003 Author Report Posted July 10, 2003 I certainly understand the value of change, but I really enjoy that image. Keep it, maybe not forever, but for a good long time. I know, I'm in the same boat. (Hence my even starting this thread.) Thing is, I love the image -- and I mean on about 6 different levels..... [*]Elvin is one of my all-time favorite drummers (for me, not as much from his work with Coltrane, but more from all his sideman work for Blue Note). [*]Blue is my favorite color, especially dark shades of blue. [*]My favorite necktie (yes, a Rooster brand necktie!!!) is all-various-shades-of-blue (with some black), and is a ‘mosaic’-type image. [*]All of my favorite color schemes are all muted colors (especially medium or darker-medium shades), like this image is mostly made up of. [*]The image has a "forward momentum" to it, so much so that it almost seems to be in motion. [*]The picture has some geometry to it, but it isn’t abstract – nor is it entirely “un-abstract” (meaning concrete) either. Quote
Jim R Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Rooster, you've had some cool avatars, and I know variety is fun, but this one is easily my favorite. If you're going to rotate, at least keep this one in the mix! Quote
jacman Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 change is very cleansing. i change my avatars often. go for it. half the fun is finding a new one. Quote
chris olivarez Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Even though I voted no I would say keep your current avatar until you're ready for a change and do keep it handy if and when you decide to change. It's a way cool avatar. Quote
Big Al Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Truth be told, I always thought it was Blakey! This is just as good! Quote
Claude Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) Funny pic, but 3,8 MB ! This won't affect the forum server, as the avatar is linked from Flickr, but anyone who opens a thread with your avatar will be downloading this huge GIF file. Edited November 15, 2007 by Claude Quote
mikeweil Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Any really important problems? Quote
couw Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Any really important problems? yes, what is the best sounding version of Soul Station? Quote
Christiern Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 It does eat up space, but I like it a lot. Quote
MoGrubb Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) I've had this Avatar longer than any prior. My habit was to change it about once ever week or two, usually to various album covers. What should I do??? I dunno, I just dunno. Only you can know the answer. You must search deep into your psyche and the answer will be revealed. Or not. I like your current doe-si-doe ava. Is that three cop cars chasing a law breaker around in circles? 'Scuse me, that's alleged lawbreaker. Edited November 15, 2007 by MoGrubb Quote
Noj Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Hilarious one, RT. If avatars could have a soundtrack, I think it would be "Waltz of the Flowers - Nutcracker Ballet." Quote
brownie Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Don't mind the new one, as long as Rooster got rid of his bug Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 just because this thread is about a car and your avatar shows some more and because I was wondering why it took so long for the thread to load: isn't 3.8MB a bit much for an avatar? Geez, I had no idea it was 3.8MB!!! (I didn't know the board would allow you to link to anything that big.) I'll change it quick... Done!! Went back to the image that started this very thread -- for old times sake. Quote

mikeweil Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Funny pic, but 3,8 MB ! This won't affect the forum server, as the avatar is linked from Flickr, but anyone who opens a thread with your avatar will be downloading this huge GIF file. Even the lowest level graphic software can reduce the size of that file - I always do so and upload them. If the file is removed from the website you link to, your avatar is gone. Quote
