Rooster_Ties Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 (edited) OK, this thread is similar to the other "1 album - 1 artist, the essentials thread" thread. EXCEPT, you only get to pick one example (one album) per artist, where that artist is serving as a sideman. What are THE very best sideman dates for each artist??? This should generate interest in terms of sidemen who never lead dates (particularly drummers and/or bass players whose best recordings are not their own dates, or else they didn't lead any/many dates). And also some interesting choices for players who did lots and LOTS of sideman dates, in addition to the dates they lead themselves. Also, since the specific sideman of the date that you're choosing it for isn't self-evident by just posting album covers -- be sure to mention the specific sideman for whom your choice applies. PS: Just like the other thread, double albums are o.k. but NO box sets, mosaics etc.! Edited October 12, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
