Free For All Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 (edited) We'll see if there is a post #2. Then I'll jump on the welcome wagon. In the meantime, Evan's doing a great job at the ol' Organissimo Chamber of Commerce. EDIT: Catesta, on the other hand........................... Edited October 10, 2005 by Free For All Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 I was just listening to Mercedes McCambridge today at work. Everybody this side of the river Styx is listening to it. Quote
robviti Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 all newbie-kidding aside, guys, i have a few older cds by mercedes sosa and they are quite good imo. Quote
kh1958 Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 Mercedes Sosa sings a great duet with Milton Nascimento on his record, Sentinela, performing a song by Cuban composer Sylvio Rodriguez. I have another outstanding CD, an import from Argentina, that is a live concert with Mercedes Sosa and Milton Nascimento. This concert is a thrilling recording. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 I think it sucks big time. Or I would if I listened. Where the the corps find these people? Quote
Guest Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Sorry I've been really busy, but I honestly do think Mercedes music is wonderful. She is not only a singer but a political figure who through her music has help the poor peolpe of her country. if you have chance google her and read her bio, it is very intresting. what do I like about her album...? well first of all it is very moving and at the same time very soothing. While relaxing she makes you think and I enjoy music that makes me think, her words are very powerful. I hope you get a chance to listen to it, it's a great album. Quote
Spontooneous Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Please, please, tell me this isn't another Universal Music "street team" incursion. Quote
sheldonm Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Please, please, tell me this isn't another Universal Music "street team" incursion. ← ...sure sounds like it! Quote
SEK Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Please, please, tell me this isn't another Universal Music "street team" incursion. ← ...sure sounds like it! ← I dunno, but Mercedes Sosa has made some great recordings. I have the recordings that kh1958 mentions below, as well as a CD of another Sosa concert recorded "Live in Argentina". I really enjoy her music and her passions, but I would expect to find mention of her music on this board in the Miscellaneous Music section. Quote

JSngry Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Hey, a street-team pimping of a worthy artist is a refreshing change of pace! Quote
Spontooneous Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 In that case, I'll be sure to pick up the first used copy I see. Quote

I was not recommending that Mercedes Sosa be moved elsewhere. Quote
