DukeCity Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 I was just channel surfing, and during the last moments of the Ellen Degeneres show she thanked today's guests "...Herbie Hancock..." I assume it was one of the duets from the new CD. Did anyone see this? Quote
Jazz Kat Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 No, I didn't see it. Not that I would have anyway. I think it's on around 10? Anyway, I'm curious to find out what tune he played. and was Christina there...? Quote

robviti Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 from the show's website: CHRISTINA AGUILERA & HERBIE HANCOCK perform their duet, "A Song For You" from Herbie's new CD, "Possibilities." so there! Quote
Soul Stream Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 There are "possiblilities" that this may be Herbie's biggest sellout. Must need a new beach house. ....can't wait for his duet with Toby Keith on the follow-up. Quote
rostasi Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Funny to hear about this. The only time I saw her first sitcom, "These Friends of Mine," a subplot consisted of her being nervous about an upcoming date (with a man). When they met, they were planning on going out to dinner and also to see Herbie. She nervously referred to him as "Handy Herbcock." Not sure why I remember this, but it seemed that her first show had some promise. One of the regular characters was named Joe Farrell Quote

rostasi Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 (edited) The picture doesn't show up, but I'll use my inward imagination. OK, I see it now and dats da ugliest asparagus i've ever seen! (of course, I'm not sure if there's really attractive asparagus...) Edited October 8, 2005 by rostasi Quote
ep1str0phy Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 . She nervously referred to him as "Handy Herbcock." ← The Blue Note fact checkers strike again! Quote
bertrand Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 (edited) I saw that show, but I remember her calling him Kenny Herbcock. Later in the show, it turned out they ditched the Herbie tickets and went to a classical gig instead. Bertrand. Edited October 8, 2005 by bertrand Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I got no problem with a show that cast Joely Fisher as her best friend: Quote

I probably got the first name wrong Bertrand, but it was really funny the way she said it. This was many years ago. Quote
Free For All Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 From the thread title I thought maybe she had "switched teams". Quote
Jazz Kat Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I probaly wouldn't call this new album for Herbie, a sellout, because I like when artists do their thing no matter what other people may think. But it's ghastly. Not kicking myself about this Ellen thing. Quote

jazzbo Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 What, you've never seen it? I have to confess. . . I hate talk shows generally. But hers is watchable! Quote

robviti Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 she ain't that bad, especially when you consider the competition. still, i wish she'd lose the star search histrionics. maybe that will come with age. Quote

So little music! I felt bludgeoned. The chick's got impressive chops, for sure, But DAMN, lady, if you fuck like you sing a love song, forget about getting married and buy a machine instead! Nice, subtle reharm of the original changes by Herbie, though. Quote
