Can't tell you how much we appreciate you and your friends coming out and staying ALL NIGHT, Paul. That's a true "friend-of-the-band". And thanks for the kind words. It was a special night. We love Baker's!

Thanks Joe!

I can tell you that we heard you fine this time. Last time at Baker's, it seemed your amp was not turned up loud enough, but we heard you digging real good (even with Randy's loud drumming.)

:P When the the groove starts poppin' & hoppin' I get into the passion of the music and the moment and build the intensity.. The best shows I have ever attended have had dynamics, with drummers that can effectively play from PP (double pianissimo)- FFF (triple forte) .. :) The use of dynamics I think is what makes music interesting.

Thanks again for coming Paul. Your presence and enthusiasm is always an inspiration.

Yeah, after I read that first post about "Randy's loud drumming," I was wondering what Randy's response would be. Nothing pisses a drummer off more than saying he's too loud. :g

...I get the feeling Organissimo has a very balanced sound between the 3 of them on stage. The core of what they're all about seems to be interaction. But, many times....we who are in bands have to field the same allegations...."such and such (insert band member/instrument here)" is TOO LOUD. Many times that's a P.A./Soundman problem. Or the person complaining is sitting right next to said instrument. That said, some band members (usually bass players from my experience) ARE too loud.

To clear this matter up...I didn't say that Randy's drumming was "too loud." I said it was loud, but I didn't make any qualitative judgment of that. He sure sounded fine to me last night. Randy propels the group, and that's the way it should be, as far as I'm concerned. Don't read too much into these things, Soulstream.

I honestly cannot think of a single negative from last night's performance. Everything and everybody were clicking. Nuff said!

For the record, GregN did buy me a beer!   (I graciously passed it on to one of my friends) but, nevertheless, he did follow through... We talked for a bit but didn't have much time.

Yeah, after the night was over I felt bad for not being able to visit with you guys.

Nevertheless, it was very nice meeting with you all. :)

Three sets of 8 readouts all registering different input levels with some getting dangerously close to clippin' because of the loud drummer (kiddin'), kept me

a bit distracted. I did leave my post a few times to check the room levels. I still haven't heard from Jim on how it all worked out. The first few tunes probably have some digital distortion and may not be usable, but I believe <crosses fingers> we got some good stuff.

Paul, your friends are very nice people.. You guys really helped make the night happen.. I felt bad too that I didn't get a chance to say hello to Alison or Rachel.. I was sitting most of the breaks with the 3 German guys, one of which was the guy who occasionally stood near the organ, watching and admiring Jim's impressive ability to, and with all 4 limbs, operate, articulate, and cook so hard on that complex Hammond apparatus. That guy by the way, is very interested in getting our music heard in Deutschland and believes he may know some people who could maybe hook up some gigs & festivals.. So he has both Cds & a presskit and is on his way to Germany as I speak. After spending a few years here working for a Detroit based company, he is returning to his hometown of Dortmund, where the beer is really kiick ass! .. :tup

Those three German guys were great too. I count them as part of the gream Baker's ambience. I spoke a bit with Jurgen and with Elmo. Michael's seat was diagonal to mine and not conducive to conversation owing to the loud drumming... ;);)

We had a great table all around: the three Germans, the five of our group, Rachel and Allison, and Howard and Gwen. Great, great memory.

I am just about to go start listening to some of the stuff and see where we are. Keep in mind we were recording to two mediums for redundancy purposes, so between the two there should be good, quality, non-distorting stuff (I would hope).

A highlight of the evening for me was meeting David Ruffin's widow, daughter, and grandson!!! DAVID RUFFIN! How cool is Detroit?

Everytime I drive into Detroit I feel reverence. I feel the pulse of the city. I think about the history. Its musical culture, its issues of race, the ghosts of industry, and the extant hopes that keep it kickin'. There is a certain beauty to Detroit people you wont find anywhere else. A certain urban toughness wrapped in midwestern kindness.

Growing up in Flint Michigan I feel I can relate with our big brother to the south.

A lot of my fellow suburbanites, don't get it. Their loss.

Bakers-- what a great club! I *love* that place and the people. Everybody was bobbing their heads, even those who were getting serious with their food which was quite a sight. I heard quite a few " now that's what I'm talkin' about!" in response to the band.

Paul, it was so nice to meet you and your great friends! I loved watching their reaction to the music. It was quite a "kismet" moment when we were seated at the only two seats left in the house which happened to be at your table. Howard and Gwenn were a hoot. She mentioned that she had seen quite a few greats in the day at Bakers as well as her mother before her ( Billy Holiday, just to name one...) At one point early in the evening she said, "I used to love [insert smooth jazz sax player of choice] a lot, but I found a new love --Organissimo!" She was thrilled that the band signed a CD for her. I bet she tells *all* of her friends about Organissimo.

Randy, I wish I could have chatted with you a bit too, but you spoke volumes from the stage-- it was great. I loved how everybody rushed the stage after the first set to buy CDs. I figured that you guys would be pretty busy between sets; you had a roomful of very happy listeners.

I would recommend everybody see the guys live, especially at Bakers, even if you have to drive a bit to do so. ;)

I listened to a bunch of the stuff last night. The sound is good... very "live". There is some overloading of the preamps on the first tune. We really didn't have time for an adequate sound check (ahem) but we've played "Theme From The Big O" better anyway, so no loss there.

Overall, there are some fine moments for sure, but I'm going to let the stuff sit for a week or two and then come back to it. I'm a little too close to it right now and a little too critical.

I'm glad you got a chance to meet some Detroit jazz fans as opposed to Detroit Pistons fans. ^_^

Good one, Joe.

Different crowd for sure.
