J.A.W.
In looking over the Mosaic webpages for these, I was a little disappointed to see several small errors - Alberquerque Social Swim (Twardzik) - unless there's a good reason for this: the city is spelled Albuquerque That session is listed as December 1954 but Dan Skea determined it was recorded on October 27, 1954 and it's even listed in the Lord CDROM 5.0 that way. Crepescule With Nellie (Monk/Coltrane) - this is a long-standing error. The correct spelling of the word is Crepuscule! Hoping that perhaps these won't be wrong in the actual issues. Mike ← I forwarded your post to Mosaic's Scott Wenzel. I hope they'll correct the errors before the set is released.
brownie
Crepescule With Nellie (Monk/Coltrane) - this is a long-standing error. The correct spelling of the word is Crepuscule! 'Crepescule' originated on the Riverside 'Monk's Music' LP. The album was produced by Orin Keepnews who also wrote the liner notes without checking a dictionary. He did however note that the word meant 'Twilight'. French fans of Monk had fun with that word when the album was released!
mgraham333
Anyone have release date updates on the new Mosaic Selects?
Brad
I just called and they're hoping by the end of this week.
BFrank
Apparently, they're out now. Felser got a Tolliver set yesterday. They've updated the website, too. The only thing now listed in "Upcoming releases" is the Trane/Monk LP.
Brad
The last I'd heard (Thursday) when I ordered the Tolliver was that it was going to be in on Friday but that the Jazz Piano wouldn't be until next week. Perhaps that's changed. Hope so.

mgraham333
According to Mosaic, MS-019: Pacific Jazz Piano Trios should ship tommorrow (10/25/05)
Alfred
I have RUSS FREEMAN TRIO, THE LAST SET, TRIO: RUSS FREEMAN/RICHARD TWARDZIK, FIRST TIME OUT and SURGING AHEAD on LP. Is the rest of the material (sessions D, F, G, H) worth the money?
jazzbo
Well, in my opinion the Twardzik material is the real gem of this collection, but the Rowles material is excellent as well. The Fisher is good. . . you may have that (?). . . . It's really hard to say what someone else would feel is "worth the money." If you're a big Rowles fan I'd say it may well be. mgraham333
did anyone (other than me) order both...??? And have you gotten it yet??? ← Yes. The piano trios is what's holding things up. It wasn't in until yesterday and should be shipping today. I received my "shipping within 24 hours" email notice yesterday (monday 11/24). Alec
Good news--- The Piano Trios set arrived today Bad news--- Because of snow, power has been out for around 24hrs Good news--- We have a generator and the stereo is hooked to it (priorities ) so I'm listening to disc 1 right now. mgraham333
Just got both of mine. Tolliver 894/5000, Piano Trios 4809/5000 (what? did they pull this off the bottom of the stack )
Brad
I got both yesterday and have listened to the first disc of Jazz Piano. Really fine. Sounds good to me but for those who are finicky it is mastered by McMaster. Haven't listened to the Tolliver yet.
rostasi
Just got both of mine. Tolliver 894/5000, Piano Trios 4809/5000 (what? did they pull this off the bottom of the stack ) ← Also, check the numbers on the side of the boxes. Mine has a 5-digit "B2" number on the #19 and the #20 just has MS-020. The 19 has a barcode with numbers and the #20 has no barcode anywhere ...so, I totally don't get it! I knew McMaster mastered this set and I generally don't like his mastering jobs (to put it mildly), yet I ordered it, that's how much I love the music. sthomas
Some possible bad news about the Tolliver. Mine wouldn't play on my Bose player. Mosaic sent me a second copy and that wouldn't play either. Edited November 9, 2005 by sthomas
J.A.W.
Some possible bad news about the Tolliver. Mine wouldn't play on my Bose player ... perhaps due to its being copy protected? Mosaic sent me a second copy and that wouldn't play either. ← Are you sure it's copy-protected? Does it say so in the booklet, on the CD or the inserts? Did you try another CD player?
