connoisseur series500 Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I'm supposing that since we haven't reached week 6 yet, that a trade for a QB isn't entirely out of the question for the Jets. If they have any decent draft picks for next year, they might be able to grab a second-string QB from another team...there are some pretty good ones out there. ← We'll trade our backup QB, Doug Flutie for a strong safety. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 It sure looks like a 6-10 season for the Jets this year. ← It's interesting because a lot of Pats fans are bitching about the difficulty of their schedule. Well, you could certainly argue that the defending Super Bowl champion should suffer the hardest schedule in the league. But what's interesting is that their division looks a lot weaker at this stage than was expected. Buffalo is reeling as well. Miami is currently in second place. Pat's schedule may not prove as difficult as originally thought. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 There is a small pool of available veteran safties in the free agent market such as Reggie Tongue and Brock Marion, but I think the Pats will re-sign second-year man Dexter Reid, who is also valuable on special teams. They could also move Chad Scott to the safety position and sign a cornerback or two to replace him. (You heard it first here, guys. ) The Indianapolis Colts grabbed Reid back when the Patriots cut him. He's on their 53 man roster too, not the practice squad. The Patriots can't sign him. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hank Poteat back on the Patriots... which scares the crap out of me. He wasn't that good. BTW, Earthwind Moreland is available. I bet Troy Brown is practicing with the defense again. Kevin ← Forget Earthwind. He sucks. Poteat might be back, I agree, but cornerback Bobby Taylor visited the team last week. Don't be surprised if he signs. The team just signed a safety today by the name of Stone (forgot his first name.) Don't know anything about him, but he's got some big shoes to fill. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Forget Earthwind. He sucks. I agree, that's why I gave him that "thumbs down". Poteat might be back, I agree, but cornerback Bobby Taylor visited the team last week. Don't be surprised if he signs. Most of the juiciest rumors are over at http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/. Taylor seems like the leader of the pack. The team just signed a safety today by the name of Stone (forgot his first name.) Don't know anything about him, but he's got some big shoes to fill. ← According to what I've read over on the patsfans website, his role has been mostly special teams thus far in his career. The reason he's in now is because the Pats almost signed him in the offseason. He smart and taken a hit on his rep due to injury, which seems to be the type of player the Pats have been signing lately. Kevin Quote
Free For All Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Forget Earthwind. He sucks. ← They should fire Earthwind. Get it? Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Forget Earthwind. He sucks. ← They should fire Earthwind. Get it? ← I'd just quietly suggest that the young man consider an alternative profession. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Ravens and Jets might be one of those 0-0 ties going into overtime. Neither team seems able to muster any offense and both have very good defenses. As for the Colts, they seem to have finally realized that you win games by controlling the clock with your running game. They're finally slowing down their game. Smart move on their part, if you ask me. Quote
