Jim Alfredson Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Wow. We moved up from #12 to #6 this week on the CMJ Jazz Top-40 chart this week. We stayed at #25 on the JazzWeek charts. That's pretty frickin' cool! Our radio/print promoter, Mitchell Feldman, made a great point: Look at the CDs around "This Is The Place" -- all on MAJOR multinational labels or major independents - or minor independents. But don't see many artist produced, artist owned label CDs in the Top-40, certainly not in the top12... We should all be very proud of our achievement to date. I am very proud! I never thought we'd have this kind of success with this record. It is helping to open up some new avenues for us gig-wise that we didn't have before. I want to thank all of you for your support, and especially our members that are in radio (you know who you are!) that are playing the disc! Thank you, thank you, thank you! When we get to your neck of the woods, we owe y'all a beer! Onward and upward! Time to break the top 10 on JazzWeek!!! Quote

GA Russell Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 So good it's hard to believe! Is CDBaby the only place to buy the CD? What if someone listening wants to buy it? Quote
.:.impossible Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 That is great guys. Congratulations! I need to get my ass in gear and order this disc! Quote
Soul Stream Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Hey Congrats! That's quite an achievement for a self-produced effort. No doubt about that. Great job guys! Quote
GregN Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 So good it's hard to believe! Is CDBaby the only place to buy the CD? What if someone listening wants to buy it? ← It is also available at Tower. And will be available at many other retailers in a few weeks or so (Including Amazon.com). So, distribution is just around the corner. We are new at this, and we are learning fast. It is also possible to send a check or money order to us to get one. Greg Big O Records and artist mgt Quote
GregN Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Somebody pinch me! ← Seven months ago, I told you this day would come. Well, maybe not this day...but a day kind of like it! We need to throw a party me thinks. A big lavish (tax deductible party) at Denny's. Quote
Big Deal Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 When we get to your neck of the woods, we owe y'all a beer! See ya Friday Jim Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 8, 2005 Author Report Posted September 8, 2005 Don, I will definitely buy you a beer, my friend. Greg, Denny's is great but what about splurging and going to Bob Evans? If it's good enough for the Hatch's 50th Wedding Anniversary, it's good enough for us. <sorry folks, inside joke> Quote
wesbed Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Somebody pinch me! ← Damn. Pinch me too. Oh, puleeeze pinch me. You're in good company, Organissimo. Quote
GA Russell Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 By the way, what is the CMJ jazz chart? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 8, 2005 Author Report Posted September 8, 2005 College Music Journal. It tracks airplay on the college stations. We're #25 on JazzWeek right now, which tracks all jazz airplay around the country including the cable networks (like Comcast, which we will be on sometime next week, I believe) XM and Sirius, plus the standard stations (usually public broadcasting / NPR stations) around the country. Adam Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Congrats! You should start a web site! Quote
James Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Last time I visited KSDS San Diego I checked the airplay "This is the Place" was getting --- and discovered that it's a pretty damn popular disc among the jocks, fellas. Congrats again on the success of the release! Quote
