Sundog Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Anyone pick this up? I'm curious about the sound quality. Quote
Guy Berger Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I'm curious about the content as well -- anybody have a short review of this album? Guy Quote
Sundog Posted September 5, 2005 Author Report Posted September 5, 2005 Ok, this is a very short and fairly subjective review.... Simply, my favorite "with strings" album of all time. Haunting, beautiful, and intimate only begin to describe it. Quote

Dave James Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Pepper even tickles the licorice stick on a couple of tunes. "Haunting" is a very appropriate description of this one. Up over and out. Quote
fent99 Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Wish it didn't have strings. ← Can't agree. There's plenty of Pepper without strings and here he's made one of the best ever with. Possibly the bit of the Galaxy box I listen to most... Quote
Claude Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 (edited) I'm curious about the sound quality. ← Excellent recording, excellent remastering. I compared the new K2 reissue to the german ZYX 24bit remaster (one of their better efforts). The K2 sounds smoother and less bassy than the ZYX. More natural overall. BTW, the new Monk "Alone in San Francisco" K2 reissue sounds amazing too. Edited September 8, 2005 by Claude Quote
Sundog Posted September 8, 2005 Author Report Posted September 8, 2005 Claude- I appreciate you taking the time to do the comparison. I have the budget ZYX Galaxy box which includes this date. Time to upgrade! P.S. Thanks for the tip on the Monk. Quote

jazzbo Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Beautiful, moving work. I have the box set. . . not the K2. . . if I were --when I am-- richer I'd/I'll get the K2. Quote
