B. Goren. Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 (edited) Johnny Griffin was scheduled to play in Tel-Aviv next weekend. Eventually Griffin canceled his visit due to his poor health and there are rumors about heart attack. I'll be grateful if one of you has some more information about Griffin's health and can keep us updated. Edited September 4, 2005 by B. Goren. Quote
Michael Weiss Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I spoke to Griff a little under three weeks ago. Other than a little spotty memory loss, he sounded fine. I'll see what I can find out and post tomorrow. Quote

brownie Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 The Little Giant was scheduled to play on Friday, September 23 at the Saint-Denis jazz festival on the island of La Reunion in the Indian Ocean, a French territory off the African coast. Because of his recent operation, Griffin will not travel there. He is being replaced by trumpet player Eric LeLann who will perform with Griffin's European rhythm section. Quote

I think he is a poor replacement to the real thing. Quote
brownie Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 OK, LeLann is not in the same Little Giants league. Not a great fan of him but he has shown on several occasions he can hold his own. Quote
