Can't help but notice the sudden plethora of gig announcements in some major cities and quite a bit aways from Organissimo's home base, and I can't help but wonder, is this traced directly to the new CD or are these things coming up as a result of earlier efforts by Greg and Jim?

If its all coming from the strength of the CD, well, woo hoo, and keep on keepin' on! :tup

It's a little of both. The CD is getting massive airplay in some major markets, which makes booking those markets much easier.

So far, we're doing a little eastward tour consisting of NY on October the 6th and 9th and Pittsburgh on the 10th. Hopefully we'll get something in Philly after the 10th and maybe something in NJ to fill in the 7th and 8th.

We're also looking for a real booking agency to help us plan these things as well as looking overseas.

The CD is doing really well in airplay (sales aren't too bad... it would help if we were on Amazon or CDUniverse... that will be coming in about a month or two).

No Boston? Only about 4hrs from NYC...

I heard it is not much of a college town.

Just kiddin'. Lifted that one from Spinal Tap.

We are workin it. This one is on short notice so the planning

is tough. I may have to wait till the next time to target Boston...

although...(you've got me thinking).

PHIL-LY! PHIL-LY!  PHIL-LY! :excited:

There's a place toward the bottom of the page for suggesting bands. Says something like "suggest bands" or something. :)

Suggest Organissimo

I just sent them an email via booking and will be calling tomorrow, however, any grassroots movements are greatly appreciated. hint hint, ;):w

Greg,

Just sent you a PM re Philly gigs.

Just read it Ron! Many thanks for the info!!!

Do you still have the other suggestions of Philly jazz clubs I had sent to Jim?

If you could send them to me it would be great. I think I've contacted most...however, better safe than gigless. :)

I sent a note to the Village Voice that the band would be in Greenwich Village on the ninth and that they might do well to send their music critic over to the club: I hope they do. All we need is the right set of ears and the group is off and running.

Hey,

If you are going to horn in my action, the least you can do is let me borrow that guitar for the Johnny Taylor tune we are recording. geez :P:excited::w

Greg,

I'll post the other suggestions I can remember here, in case anyone familiar with the Philly jazz scene wants to supplement them:

Chris' Jazz Cafe (www.chrisjazzcafe.com)

Ortlieb's Jazz Haus (www.ortliebsjazzhaus.com)

Warmdaddy's--affiliated with Zanzibar Blue but a bit funkier (www.warmdaddys.com)

North By Northwest (www.nxnwphl.com)

Alan Lankin, Chalupa, and other Philly-area Board members may have some more ideas, and hopefully will post them here--I know there are other clubs out there. Again, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

You should only need to jog Ortleib's and Chris' bookers' memories; Jim will remember that I left presskits with them last year (and copies of Boogaloo Sisters).

You should only need to jog Ortleib's and Chris' bookers' memories;

. . . and send them copies of "This Is The Place." Also, once you get a gig scheduled, you really should contact WRTI, send them the 2 CD's (if they don't already have them), and get them to play them and do some interviewing leading up to and promoting the gig. I've heard them do that with other "emerging" performers coming to town.

Again, many thanks Ron. Contacted Chris, still having a tough time with Ortleib's. But I am, Tenacious G...

And don't forget the other 2 places if those don't pan out--or even if they do!

We need ya in the DC area!  Or Baltimore, whichever......

I am looking in D.C. likely for the Spring. Do you have any favorite spots?

I've been in contact with a few, and do have some possibilities.

Well, unfortunately, we're starting kind of late. The radio is taking off now, so it makes booking some of this stuff easier, but most clubs are already booked up into next year. So we'll have to start booking them for the spring.
