Guest ariceffron Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 I have a question. The sound on my speakers is always drops out, like you here a fuzzy noise, and the music gets much softer. Then, do whack it back into shape, you crank it really loud, and you hear more fuzzy noise, and its back to normal again. Is this a problem of wire, or a problem of connection. Because the receivers pretty old. At least 25 years. But its cool. Its one of those silver looking ones. Can anyone help Quote
Claude Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 This looks like a problem with the amplifier (receiver) Quote
Leeway Posted July 5, 2003 Report Posted July 5, 2003 Here's the usual way to check this out: Borrow a pair of speakers from someone (make sure to return them! ). Hook them up to the amp. If the same problem occurs, then it's the amp. If you switch back to the old speakers, and the problem happens again, then it's the speakers. My guess is it's the amp/receiver. Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I'd guess it is the receiver as well. I had a couple of the silver-looking receiver/amplifiers that eventually developed the symptoms you describe. They were at least 30 years old. Quote
