Soulstation1
spurs are the MF measuring stick in the NBA ask the mavs the warriors have the best roster in the west (1-12) but can't win any games
Noj
We've got the same three teams who have the best chance at winning the title as last year. The Pistons, Spurs, and maybe the Heat. Whichever team is playing the best ball by the time the playoffs roll around will take it. The Mavs and Suns are pretenders, they won't get it done when push comes to shove. I think the Pistons have looked the most like the best team this year, followed by the Spurs. The way Shaq looks lately, I have to think the Heat have a shot--but I have no confidence in their roster with losers like Williams and Walker on there. I'm betting on a Pistons/Spurs final with the Pistons avenging last year's loss and bringing the title back to Detroit.

BruceW
NO WAY, The Heat by playoff time will be much better than Suns and a tad better than Mavs. Suns cannot play playoff basketball. Mavs are thoroughly untested deep in playoffs, they are a question mark this year. So, barring any important injuries, it will be the Spurs and Pistons in a repeat NBA series. The Knicks just plain stink right now. Yes, all broadcasters has confirmed that "everyone" on the Knicks roster hates Marbury; why??? The biggest mistake I.Thomas made was hiring Larry Brown. I said it before it was finalized and I say it again; Larry Brown is overrated. IF HE IS A TEACHER as he proclaims all the time, then let him go back to college ball where it is even more important. He was lucky the Pistons bought into his program, but as you can see, there are a lot of NBA players that don't. Right now he is just whining every time he gets on camera. :bwallace2:
Noj
To me, the difference between the Heat and the Suns/Mavs is the Heat have a dominant inside presence, whereas the Suns/Mavs have dominant shooters. I'll take Shaq's interior defense and close-proximity scoring in the playoffs over shooters/fast breakers any day.
Jim R
the warriors have the best roster in the west (1-12) but can't win any games February was a bitch. And even going back to January, it seems like somebody was always sidelined, or forced to play hurt. Playing without Baron lately has been an adventure. But, the bottom line is... FREE THROWS!!!!!!!!! I can't give you the stats, but the W's have literally given away about 10 games at the charity stripe. I couldn't believe my eyes when we were making them down the stretch in the win against Orlando the other night. W's / Lakers tonight! Watch out, SS1, the W's are on a roll (they won a game Wednesday ).
Jim Alfredson
I think the Mavs are definitely stronger than the Heat, but it doesn't matter because neither will get to the Finals. It's going to be Spurs/Pistons again and this time the championship is coming back to D-town!

FWIW, before the Heat beat a bunch of bad teams (+Detroit) for their current winning streak, they faced Dallas and lost by 36 points. JSngry
Nothing wrong with the Mavs that discovering their gonads won't go a long way towards fixing. And if last night's game hasn't left them swollen and aching in that particular region (and if Avery doesn't add a little emphasis of his own therein), then there is no hope. Soulstation1
lakers kicked the pitsons' ass last night that would mean i can talk shit about the pistons today
BruceW
OK SS1, Go ahead, this is your day... Lakers certainly deserve to have their followers talk smack all day. I for one, am greatly disappointed in the Pistons losing that game. Personally I think they have lost some of their chemistry since the last trades. Jim Alfredson
It remains to be seen if moving Arroyo was a smart decision. I have serious reservations about that. However, I think the Laker's caught Detroit on tired legs.
BruceW
Yeah, I forgot about the game the played the night before, 98-96 or something like that. Well lets see if they can win 5-6 in a row (they don't need to win 12-13 straight all the time) before losing another one. That will keep them on top of everyone. Guy Berger
I'm a little surprised that Phoenix beat Dallas today. This will be an interesting team once Amare gets back. Guy
JSngry
I was surprised and concerned. That's twice this week that the Mavs have had a good chance to step up and prove themselves, and twice they have failed. Not encouraging.
Edward
It remains to be seen if moving Arroyo was a smart decision. I have serious reservations about that. However, I think the Laker's caught Detroit on tired legs. Both teams played on the road the night before, and both teams were playing their eighth game in twelve days. Hey, I am not gloating - it was the Lakers' first win against the Pistons in the last seven tries. I think that we are looking at another Spurs-Pistons NBA Finals. I do not believe that any other team in the Western Conference can beat the Spurs in the playoffs, and I give the Heat only a slight chance of unseating the Pistons. Jim R
I don't know what's wrong with me. I STILL make it a point to try to watch every Warriors game, but they are truly sucking... playing way below their potential. They've lost 8 of their last 10, including back-to-back giveaway losses to... Atlanta and Charlotte. Both road losses, but games they should have won. Every time they get a decent lead and/or some momentum- even late in a game, somebody (even the vets) make a few bonehead plays (ill-advised shots, bad passes, DUMB fouls, complete lapses in basic defensive fundamentals, etc etc), and they refuse to win. This was supposed to be a "rebound" year for a franchise whose fans have suffered for too long. Pretty sad, if not pathetic. Guy, have you been witnessing any of this, or are you just less foolish than me?
BruceW
DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT... There is a great group of guys coming out of college this year..... Warriors will get some good talent for that rebuilding task.
Guy Berger
Guy, have you been witnessing any of this, or are you just less foolish than me? Only vaguely. I haven't been bothering to follow the games via gamecast or audio. Anyway, I guess at this point we should root for them to get as many ping pong balls as possible. Bruce -- the Ws have been rebuilding for over a decade. This was supposed to be their season. I'm not getting my hopes up. Guy
