brownie
Anybody caught that? Last week's news... Sly Stone
Soul Stream
Anybody catch his 80's appearance on the old Letterman show? They reran it this week on the TRIO network. I remember seeing this as a repeat @ten years ago and my memory didn't fail. Sly was a nut during the interview. Then proceeded to lay down the heaviest versions of "If you want me to stay" "I want to take you higher" and "Simple song"...he was playing rhodes and sang his ass off with the house band (jordan, hiram, will lee,ect)....made me really wish he was playing again. THAT'S a show I wouldn't miss.
Jazzmoose
Wow! Missed it completely. I don't know if I'd buy the remix, but it would be nice to see a "comeback" by the man...
Stereojack
His 1970 appearance on Dick Cavett's show was just released on DVD. Sly & the band perform "Thank You For Lettin Me Be Mice Elf Again", which is OK, then Sly sits down to talk and appears to be totally hammered, largely incoherent. JSngry
I keep hearing that he's brain-damaged from all the blow. To what extent varies by who's telling the story. But hell, if he's even functional, that's good news.
Rosco
I dunno about a 'comeback', even if Sly were capable of one. These things are almost always a letdown. I'm just happy the guy's still alive.
Chrome
"an album of Sly and the Family Stone covers remixed with the band's original masters -- and, more importantly, Sly's artistic approval -- is due for wide release this September through Sony Legacy. Featuring the Roots, Moby, Chuck D, Maroon 5, Buddy Guy and Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas, the album is exclusively at select Starbucks this summer." JSngry
I've seen it in Starbucks. I have avoided it in Starbucks as well. First things first - I'm still looking for Ten Years Too Soon.
