Soulstation1 Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 any thoughts......... someone mentioned earland's leaving this planet my non-greazzyy cd nomination maybe martino's el hombre??? not a rip on the cd does anyone consider larry young's playing style greazzzzyyy ss1 Quote
Guest akanalog Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 jeff palmer's albums? john abercrombie's albums with organ? how greazzzy can an ECM album get? larry young has some early greazzy kind of stuff. charles earland definitley moved outside of greazzzz territory in the 70s. but he also incorporated other keyboards into his repetoire. Joe G Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Yeah, the Bach works. Also Dan Wall, Sam Yahel, Larry Goldings all have pretty low cholesterol levels. Quote
Guest akanalog Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 maybe since i don't listen to this kind of stuff enough, but i think "el hombre" has some greazzze. i mean it has some burnin' jazz soul music on it. i guess is it too vigorous to be greazzzy? whatever. Quote
RDK Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 john abercrombie's albums with organ? how greazzzy can an ECM album get? ← Geez, I've got one of them and it bores the shit out of me. Yeah, ECM isn't known for its grease... Quote
BFrank Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Keith Emerson lacks grease. ... although he may be into fish & chips. Quote
BeBop Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Bach's Toccata and Fugue? ← Now that's funny! No grease, only wig powder. Quote
mikeweil Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Well, I'd say Khalid Yasin, Larry Goldings, Sam Yahel have ..................................................................... sophisticated greaze ! Quote
JSngry Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 No grease here: But plenty of acid anyway... Quote
Guest akanalog Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 i was just listening to love cry want today. it is really good. and not greazzy at all. and yes, pretty trippy. i wish i had been there. Quote
Guest akanalog Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 (edited) http://www.diregarden.com/god065.html http://www.diregarden.com/god072.html i have mentioned these albums before...but...they are really good. i like "master said" even though it has a less interesting lineup of musicians. (no brian auger on additional organ) they were created to be background albums in germany for television and radio commercials and stuff like that, i think. but they are trippy and deep and interesting and though funky at times, not greezy. not that german and british dudes making background listening music would ever be so greezy, intentionally or unintentionally. these albums are also pretty readily available. oh since the print is small, these are roland kovac albums. i know he also did some MPS work. Well, this is normal price and it has the 2 "hits" as well as the KILLER "Medley: Tell Me How You Feel/(Don't Want No) Woman/My Friends" Quote
rostasi Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 Ha! Yes, I remember hearing about this collection coming out. About 10 years ago, One Way Records put out his first 7 albums and I suppose that they just didn't sell enough or maybe the label is gone... don't know, will probably go check this now. The medley would be great to have, but I still have a soft spot for the drum solo (that, apparently, was just too "70's" to leave intact). I think Frosty's dead - he really was a huge guy! Quote
