I haven't, but haven't been looking. I wonder if one of the jazz scholars on the board would have any advice about locating something of this nature. Michael Fitzgerald perhaps?

Just going on the details known, it sounds like a documentary based around the fall 1965 European tour. I would imagine there is performance footage as well as other things.

P.S. if you want straight performance by this same trio, try looking for the BBC TV "Jazz 625" show. That's from the spring 1965 tour.

not ZDF, but NDR and not much hope for getting a copy from them. They do provide recordings of recent broadcasts, but not of archive material. The good news is that it's a documentary and not concert footage, as they do not provide copies of concerts at all.

This may be getting issued. The person that has it, wrote to me, that it just might be coming out on DVD. It was rebroadcast last year on TV and may be making it to a store near you. If it is not being issued, it will be seeded on dime, otherwise we will need to go and buy it when it gets issued. Either way, it seems to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Jimmy Smith is in one of those Sam Katzman-style '60's rock & roll/ski party type movies (along with the Animals and Stan Getz) - that's the one to find. ("Get Yourself a College Girl," or one of those.)

I've watched this film 2 times now and enjoyed it very much. There not much playing. It is more the life of Jimmy Smith as he toured Europe in 1965.
