Soul Stream Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 (edited) Is someone on crack or has the whole world gone mad. I for one, don't find any reason to pay this kind of riciculous money for a piece of plastic sandwiched between paper. I mean, go buy the friggin' CD. Edited August 25, 2005 by Soul Stream Quote
spinlps Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Dang... I knew Joe did well with his auctions, but haven't really followed them lately due to the stratospheric prices. He's been doing this for a long, long time... I remember those b/w auction lists pre-ebay. While I can't see myself dropping that kind of jack, it's nice to be able to stop by the shop and lust after those rare, original pressings in person. Hopefully, the ebay business helps him keep the B & M open for us locals. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Dang. If I have almost $700 lying around, I sure as hell wouldn't buy a record with it. Here's an idea... why not go out and see some live music? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Here's an idea... why not go out and see some live music? ← Or better yet, hear some live music. Quote

CJ Shearn Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 crazy, if the music is the thing that ultimately matters in the end, what's the urge to spend that kind of $? If vinyl collecting is your thing, thats great, if not, well... I concur with Soulstream. Only original vinyl I'd want is of "The Sermon" just because thats my favorite album. But if I have the CD of something, I'm set. I personally can't see collecting for anything but the music, not for mystique value. I get use out of what I have. Quote

This reminds me of people who spend a thousand dollars on a fountain pen or some such thing that you could easily buy for almost a hundredth of that cost...cRaZy I suppose it's good if you're the seller tho! Jazzmoose Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Well...speaking as someone who used to spend hundreds of dollars for a particular issue of Superman that I needed for my collection, I can't throw stones. But I agree; at that point, it is not about the music anymore, unless you're talking about someone with as much disposable income as all of us put together... Quote
RDK Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Well, no, it's not about the music. It is about that LP being a collectible. It's not my cuppa, but there's nothing wrong with that.... Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Nope, not a thing wrong with it in my book. Hell, if I could find that Danish 1881 2 Skilling on cover, I'd gladly pay that much for it, and that would just be a stoopid used stamp on an envelope! Quote
RDK Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Let's not go there, Mark. I've already been reminded by several this week that Steve Carell's character in "40 Year Old Virgin" has many of the same toys on his shelf as I do! Quote
WD45 Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Grade & Description (cover): M- Excellent laminated cover, no real flaws. Yeah, except for that huge bend on the upper right corner. Geez! Quote

clifford_thornton Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Euclid's grading sucks. So it better be crisp for that kind of dough. Seems kinda high to me, too, for that piece. Quote
