Tjazz Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 I noticed it too, but why does it say 4 pieces in set? Wasn't this a 7-CD set? Unless they just counted the jewel cases (which 3 are doubles). The Complete Capitol Recordings... Tjazz Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Just noticed the FOUR FRESHMEN have been added $84.99 But isn't this suppose to be a 9-CD set? also:Tower Sale - Four Freshmen (Mosaic box set) The Complete Four Freshmen Fifties Sessions [box] The Four Freshmen Format: Compact Disc (72435420062) Release Date: Nov 5, 2002 Original release year: 2002 Label: Capitol Jazz Stereo: Stereo Studio/Live: Studio Pieces in Set: 4 Catalog #: 42006 Desc: Boxed Set Quote
Brad Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 I can't imagine they'd sell a partial set; that seems strange. Quote
micha Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 I can't imagine they'd sell a partial set; that seems strange. ← I think in the case of the Krupa/James set it is split out so the first four discs are of Krupa and the last three are James, so it probably got entered in as four by mistake. I agree that it seems very unlikely that they are selling partials. Thanks for the heads up by the way, my order has shipped already. Quote
brownie Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 The blurb about the Four Freshmen says indicates it contains 210 tracks, which is correct. What I don't understand is the mention 'Pieces in the set: 4'. The Mosaic box came with 3 pieces. Three 3-CD sets. Quote

sidewinder Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Hmmm... 3CD boxes + box + booklet = 5 pieces ? Quote
Abution II Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Ordered the Four Freshman set and received it last night (free 2 day shipping on a $100 order!). Its the real deal (pun intended) -- Mosaic with 9 cds and hand-numbered book. Thanks for the tip! Quote
Dave James Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 (edited) I think the word "pieces" equates to the number of jewel boxes. As I recall, both the Krupa/James and the FF sets use doubles jewel cases. At least with the K/J, that would make sense as the first three "pieces" contain two CD's and the last, just one. Total four. Up over and out. Edited August 25, 2005 by Dave James Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Hmmm... 3CD boxes + box + booklet = 5 pieces ? ← But wait! Act today, and we'll throw in the plastic insert tray for free! That's SIX pieces for the price of four!!! Quote
ghost of miles Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Jump on 'em, esp. the Krupa/James. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Looks like the Krupa/James is gone, but the Freshmen are still available. At that price, I wish I wanted the thing! Quote
