Soul Stream
I actually like the Ervin title "TexBook Tenor"...has that 60's flavor that fits... ...but maybe it's just a Texas thing....

sheldonm
I hope not.... ← ....watch out for that corner window!!! For those of you who don't know the building, it's where JFK and others were apparently shot from; 6th floor, far right. Free For All
Well, at least my new Conns shipped today. That'll give me something to do 'til the Miles gets here. Yeah, like I don't have anything else to listen to.
Peter Johnson
Oh HELL yeah! Hopefully these don't take a week, like Monk did!
Free For All
I always pay the extra shipping buck to hurry things up a bit.
ep1str0phy
Does anyone else find it strange that these aren't listed on the BN website? Pushing for Monktrane, I guess (although most of the interested parties already own it).

ep1str0phy
I guess I'd call it more of a "state of mind." Or lack thereof.

felser
I agree the Blue Note website leaves a LOT to be desired, just seem to push their latest hope for the next Cassandra/Norah breakout, and it's really difficult to get meaningful info on something like upcoming Connoisseurs. I'm ordering all of them except the Hope, which I have the original of. Would be helpful if someone can compare the sound on the new one to the sound on the old one for us. While I hear impovements over the originals on the RVGT's, I usually don't find it to be dramatic (better than the Impulse remasters, which I wasn't often able to hear ANY improvement on). I buy the RVG's anyways for the upgraded notes and pictures and because they are priced so reasonabley ($8.39 at CD Universe when new). David Ayers
Uhh - I want these and I am almost ready to crack and order CC versions for speed and cheapness. No they aren't cheap in UK - amazon is asking £11.99. But amazon.de is asking 9.99 euros which is less than £7. Cheaper than shipping from US and no risk of duties. Hmmm... Why so cheap in Germany and pricey in UK?
Claude
The UK price looks normal for Conns. Maybe the german price is an error. Conns have always been full price on the continent.

Alexander
For the record, these seem to be as rare as hen's teeth in the Captial District. After calling around for almost an hour, the only one in stock anywhere is the Ervin. Too bad, since I really wanted to hear the Cherry! I have a burn of the Hill, so that can console me until the "real" copy arrives. I've already ordered the Hope and the Quebec from CD Universe, so those should come in short order...*sigh* What's up with this? RVGs are everywhere, but Conns seem to be less of a priority for brick and morter retailers... Edited October 4, 2005 by Alexander

Many old Conns are indeed listed with a release date of October 14 and a price of 9.99 Euro. So I noticed. Looks like a campaign. I also found Wilkerson, Braith and Turrentine Complete Blue Hour set to return at 16.99 euros and I'm sure there are others. Time to fill some gaps? Quincy
What's up with this? RVGs are everywhere, but Conns seem to be less of a priority for brick and morter retailers... ← My guess is the Conns don't sell like the RVGs. I have one friend who has trained himself to always look for the RVG stamp of approval to the extent that he'll overlook discs such as Blakey's "Roots And Herbs" that haven't received the treatment. It's not a remastering choice either, he simply likes the Good Housekeeping Seal as it were. Another friend who loves jazz but doesn't keep up on release dates is unaware of the October Conn. release program. I thought after forcing him to listen to "Fuschia Swing Song" (whereby he rushed out to buy his own copy) he might make a mental note of the series but instead he took a more logical approach and concentrated on picking up more Rivers. Evonce
My guess is the Conns don't sell like the RVGs. But would they sell more if they were RVGs? Lower price, more readily available? If anything deserves a stamp of approval (from the label), it's Fuchsia Swing Song and Contours. If Andrew Hill is considered popular enough for RVG, then so should Rivers. Actually, I'm getting ahead of myself there, because Hill has gotten both RVG and Connie treatment, just like Jackie McLean and others. I haven't yet figured out the logic behind the designations. Speaking of which, I just popped in the new ANDREW!!! Connie. Sounds great so far...
