Alexander Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 After two years of school, a semester of student teaching, and six months of job searching I FINALLY GOT OFFERED A TEACHING JOB!!!! Of course, I don't know exactly what it is yet. There were two positions on offer when I interviewed: A full-time tenure track position teaching tenth grade, and a part-time (.8, nearly full-time with benefits included) job teaching students who are academically "at risk." At this point, I'll take whatever I can get. When I got home from taking my daughter swimming this afternoon (I had my follow-up interview this morning), there was a message from the Assistant Superintendent saying "we'd like to know if you're interested in the position." I called back, everyone was gone by then. She did leave her home phone, so I left a message there. Argh! Given that this is my first teaching job, I'm assuming that I'll get the part-time job, but I really hope its the full-time gig! I'll update again later when I have more news! Quote
Alec Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Congratulations! I'm starting my 5th year as a teacher (I was a carrer-changer) Quote

Alexander Posted August 16, 2005 Author Report Posted August 16, 2005 Okay...I got the .8 position, which pays less than the full-time gig, but is still more money than I've ever made in my life. I'm just glad I got a job! I was getting nervous towards the end of July! Thanks again for all the good wishes! My orientation is next week, so I expect to learn the answers to the many questions I have about this coming year! Quote

Michael Fitzgerald Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Just stay away from playing Bix and Kenton and you'll be OK. Next on the viewing list is The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie. Mike Quote
