Brubeck told me that he was blocking the reissue of The Last Time We Saw Paris because of his issues with Paul Desmond during that tour. As for Compadres, it is a mystery to me why the owners of Columbia haven't put out a boxed set of Brubeck's recordings with Gerry Mulligan. Maybe the original LPs didn't sell enough copies...

Dave Brubeck has passed. His family now has a website that memorializes him. Perhaps it is time to let an old grievance pass and issue "Last Time In Paris" as a CD. The music is terrific!

A Kenny Burrell LP that never was on CD:

Has anybody heard this?

Yes, many years ago. I remember it as pretty generic; suitable as background music for a retro-style cocktail party.

this is such a good album! bought it almost accidentally some time last summer and would place it within the top3 or so of (way too many) albums I bought last year

This is an amazing album.  Lonnie Liston Smith-like grooves with instructions delivered in a lascivious manner.  I have never passed up a copy of this LP.  This is the only track I could find on the InterTubes.

What about Curtis Amy’s Verve LP “Mustang,” with Jimmy Owens, Kenny Baron and (on one track, if I remember correctly) his wife Merry Clayton.

Can't find this earlier post of mine, but I don't know if Mustang! has made it to CD or not.  Pretty nice LP as I recall.

Not that I can find, not even on PD EuroMusiPorn!

It's a good record, Mustang is.

1966 release, so the Europeans can't get it in the PD sets - those have a 1962 cutoff.

Dave Brubeck told me that he had no interest in the reissue of The Last Time We Saw Paris or Jackpot! Live in Las Vegas. I seem to recall that he had bad memories of Paul Desmond's behavior during that European tour, while the sound of the new Baldwin baby grand on the Las Vegas LP was the pits, the piano couldn't hold a decent pitch.

Bobby Bryant - Swahili Strut has never made it to CD.  The two larger ensemble pieces are very good and Bryant's playing is extraordinary...

I have a German Bellaphon issue of this - would like to hear more of the organist on that reocrd, Henry Cain.
