hmmmm….not really...their Joel Dorn series. I just looked, and nothing about Muse except a mention of that dubious release in the liner notes.

Since American was largely a studio for hire and their work appeared on a number of labels it can be challenging to get a sense of their work overall, certainly more so than for Stax or even Muscle Shoals/Fame.  And after Chips Moman closed shop most of 'em moved to Nashville and get paid 3 times as much to do less creative work.  I recently picked up a Petula Cark LP that was recorded at American, not sure if it ever made it to CD.

Snooky Young's Horn of Plenty doesn't look to have had a CD release, nor any repress of its initial LP pressing back in '79. Line up includes Ray Brown, Jack Hanna, John Collins & Ross Tompkins.

One of the greatest jazz albums ever made is "Blue Martini" by John Neel and Plas Johnson, on the AVA label.

Someone needs to reissue this.

Has Dick Grove’s “Little Bird Suite “ (Pacific Jazz) ever resurfaced?  I recall being underwhelmed at the time, but think maybe I underestimated it.

Shirley Scott’s “Everybody Loves a Lover” (Impulse), although a several of the tracks showed up on the CD issue of Stanley Turrentine, “Let It Go.” Recorded around the same time (and with pretty much the same personnel) as “Blue Flames” and Turrentine’s “Hustlin’”.

Jazz Crusaders, “Talk That Talk” (the small group tracks showed up on the Mosaic box), Ernie Watts first album (“Planet Earth,” World Pacific - one track showed up on one of those Blue Note anthologies ) and Hank Marr’s “Live at Club 502,” King, with Rusty Bryant and Wilbert Longmire (‘Greasy Spoon” occasionally shows up on one of those “jazz ‘45/hits” anthologies).

That is an overlooked space-age bachelor pad gem, and I don't think it has made it to CD.  It is overdue for a spin.  I'll wait until I get my new EQ, which is being shipped.  

Is this the same Dick Grove who gives piano lessons on YouTube?

From 1963.  Kennedy is still president, and the Beatles had not yet @#$%ed everything up.
