JSngry Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 Seriosuly, I think he moved to New Zealand to teach and then hurt his back. Something like that. Quote
mr jazz Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 Heath Brothers-Live at the Public Theater should be on cd. In fact, collecting all their recordings would be a great set. Quote

Stonewall15 Posted December 8, 2017 Report Posted December 8, 2017 Brubeck was unhappy with "Jackpot" yet it finally was released on CD. Also, what is holding-up release of with "Compadres" on CD? Quote

Something like that. His Facebook page says he lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his profession listed as "Retired Jazz pianist/composer". To your point about a back issue, the latest picture, posted in June, shows him seated. Quote

Whenever I listen to these LPs, I'm amazed that they aren't readily available. Enja needs to make these available again, pronto!!! Edited December 8, 2017 by HutchFan Quote
JohnT Posted December 8, 2017 Report Posted December 8, 2017 I have a CD of Cecil McBee's "Music From The Source" but it's long OOP I believe. I don't think 'Compassion" has ever been on CD. I wish Enja would reissue them both too! Quote
BFrank Posted December 10, 2017 Report Posted December 10, 2017 I actually never heard "Music From The Source." Maybe I will ... someday! I have Compassion on vinyl, but don't have my audio system set up for records right now. Quote

Bought the LP a few years AFP but would like to have a nice cd version too. It's not a CD, but the Japanese original on Victor (and not the French budget-pressing on Explosive, as Discogs claims...) is a much nicer issue. Quote

He and Mickey Tucker made a nice combination on those Steeplechases so I'm excited that there's more from them to hear. Quote
ejp626 Posted December 26, 2017 Report Posted December 26, 2017 As mentioned above Dolo! did come out on CD, as did California Hard. Third Down did not, nor did a solo LP called All Alone (though they clearly should have called it Dolo Solo!). I came pretty close to pulling the trigger on a used copy of the Third Down LP, but shipping costs are such a killer these days. Now the price is beyond what I am willing to pay, but I'll still keep an eye out. Quote

Worthy recordings so now I am sure there'll be another round of Xanadu CDs that will include both. Quote

It turns out that a university library has a copy of Third Down, but I don't know if it circulates, and I am not particularly close with any York University staff or students unfortunately... Quote
