Ron S Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Don't know about that, but this is going to be the cover photo: It's from the famous session of "Julia Plays Monkfish." And here's another Francis Wolff photo to be included in the booklet, of Julia at a session in Rudy Van Gelder's kitchen: It promises to be quite a tasty set. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Where the hell is Bobo Box3? Promises were made, money was sent, lifestyles were altered, craps weren't taken, etc. I may never be the same. Quote
LAL Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Sidney Bechet! ..and all the rest. Looks like it's bread and water for meals the whole of next year. Quote
tranemonk Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 I'm with you on that one... Got my eyes on the Oliver Nelson, McCoy, Tony W., Mulligan.. and MAYBE even the Rich... Anyway I spend next year's tax refund (now - without telling my wife)? Sidney Bechet! ..and all the rest. Looks like it's bread and water for meals the whole of next year. ← Quote
chris olivarez Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Nice of them to keep everyone informed. ← 'cept now we'll have to spread rumors about something else. ← I didn't think of that!!! Quote
Kalo Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 And Fettucinni Alfred-o. ← Don't Wolff it down! Quote
Kalo Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Don't know about that, but this is going to be the cover photo: It's from the famous session of "Julia Plays Monkfish." ← I'm not exactly sure why, but that picture kind of turns me on. I love cooking almost as much as I love jazz. Quote

Not that I'm proud of it. (Though I'm not really ashamed, either.) Quote
tranemonk Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Ewwww..... Kalo Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 As for the nominal thrust of this thread: this is what I've always HOPED would be there when I visited the Mosaic site. Nice of them to keep everyone informed. ← 'cept now we'll have to spread rumors about something else. ← I didn't think of that!!! ← Ah well, then there's THAT, too... Quote
sidewinder Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 No 'Cellar Door' LP set? Some really good stuff coming up though - especially the Nelson, Jazz Crusaders and the Tolliver. Quote
tranemonk Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 they never did a LP version of the Blackhawk Live set, did they???? No 'Cellar Door' LP set? Some really good stuff coming up though - especially the Nelson, Jazz Crusaders and the Tolliver. ← Quote
sidewinder Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 They have done the Blackhawk set as Q-LPs. It's MQ6-220 (6LPs). I haven't heard this set yet (one more for the wish list) but I've heard great reports on the mastering quality. Quote
ghost of miles Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Some really good stuff coming up though - especially the Nelson, ← Yeah, I'm really psyched about the Nelson (as well as the Tolliver, etc.)--I did a Nelson big-band program a couple of years ago and drew heavily from SOUND PIECES and the Verve Jazzmasters comp...not a lot else out on CD that I could find. Played some of those Smith/Nelson-orchestrated sessions earlier this summer, too... will be great to have all of that material in one set. And a great excuse to do another O. Nelson big-band show. sidewinder Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 (edited) This Oliver Nelson Mosaic set promises to be a very honourable addition to their big band sets (Basie, Thad/Mel, Gerald Wilson) and well up there in terms of quality. I'm also getting particularly psyched up over this one. I can feel another pre-order coming on.. Edited August 27, 2005 by sidewinder Quote
tranemonk Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Ah... sidewinder.. but that's the beauty of the pre-order.... pay now... forget about ... wait for several months until the set comes out.... and it gets delayed a month... and then just went it arrives in the mail... a NEW "must-have" set is announced and ready for pre-order..... hmmmmm..... Now I know why my checkbook never gets balanced.... (afraid to look...) Alfred Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Anyone know what that Tony Williams stuff is like? Never checked out his 80's BN stuff. Huah! I hate all this drum computer noisiness. I'll pass on this one. Quote
tranemonk Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Uh Oh... !! They yanked it off the website.... No more future projects??? Quote

tatifan Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 maybe they just have to put an adjusted page up, now that Mulligan & Bechet are out. Quote
Head Man Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 maybe they just have to put an adjusted page up, now that Mulligan & Bechet are out. Panic over - they've put the 'Future Projects' page back! Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 (edited) It would be nice if there was a way for Mosaic to pull together all 3 of the Larry Bunker Quartet (w/Gary Burton) 'Manne-hole' lps (Vault & Interplay) for a Select. I have no idea who controls Vault and Inter. material......but some quality music there. Edited February 25, 2006 by Son-of-a-Weizen Quote
