jazzbo Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Jack Teagarden or Mildred Bailey, take your pick. . . . Quote
Ed S Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 (edited) Less than 100 Anita sets left. WAY more JJs. JJ is still in running low category. Buy the Anita now Save up for the JJ - plenty of time left on that one, IMO Edited August 1, 2005 by Ed Swinnich Quote
Matthew Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I'll put it this way: When I sold my collection I kept very few cds -- Anita was one of them. Quote
tranemonk Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I have both and I think I'm the only person JJ didn't work for... So Anita!!!! Quote
B. Goren. Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Anita O'day set is great but I think JJJ is better. Quote
RDK Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 JJ is much preferred if you dig trombone and don't care for jazzy vocals. Otherwise the Anita... Quote
tranemonk Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 i might have to develop 50 aliases to rig the voting for Anita... After all I go to both the Chicago AND Florida school of voting..... Quote
sidewinder Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I love the Anita set but the JJ on vinyl is ******* brilliant. A very close call. Quote
sal Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 JJ Possibly the best set in the Mosaic catalogue. Quote
mr jazz Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Called Mosaic a few minutes ago, there are 185 Anita sets left. Quote

Last week someone had written that they were down to less than 100. At any rate, my point holds - Anita is on the Last Chance list, JJ is on the Running Low list. Pick up Anita now, save up for JJ in a couple of months. I don't think there's any urgency right now for JJ. Quote
Brad Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I'd like to get the Anita (and I've been mulling this over) but I am not a huge vocals fan. Now, if somebody said I had to have a cd or two, I could probably buy those but 9 cds, that's just too much. I may regret it but we have to make choices sometimes and I'll just have to pass. Quote
tranemonk Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I admire your resolve.... I'm too weak... bought mine a few months ago... (and don't regret it though) there are a few of the individual CD's are available... Anita Sings the Most... A MUST-HAVE!!!!!!!!! tranemonk Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Just curious.... Do you NOT like OP in general or just this session? J.A.W. said: tranemonk said: Anita Sings the Most... A MUST-HAVE!!!!!!!!!← Oscar Peterson's unnecessary busy playing spoiled that album for me. ← Quote
Uncle Skid Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Just received both sets yesterday, and based on disc 1 of each set only, I voted for Anita. The JJ's been on my want list for a long time, so I had already planned on getting that one sooner or later. The Anita wasn't even on the radar, so it is quite a pleasant surprise! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I have (and like) both, but it's Anita for me, by a mile! Quote

wesbed Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I purchased the J.J. Johnson box last year. I ordered the Anita box last night. As a result, for this poll, I had to choose Anita. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted August 13, 2005 Author Report Posted August 13, 2005 i might have to sell some of my IRA or use some vacation hours to get the anita set bottom line i know in the long run i'd listen to the jj set more Quote
