CJ Shearn Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 nope SS1, the tunes on the RVG are from 6/17-18/56, not 2/11-13/57 like the Mosaic set. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 JOS at the organ vol 3 is REALLY nice this one is moving up MY fav JOS list FAST Quote
Jazz Kat Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Was there an AT THE ORGAN, Vol. 1 & 2 album/CD? ← I'm amazed that so many people still don't know about these, but I guess it's because they haven't been released on CD individually in the US. ← Damn, those are the dirtiest JRVG mini-LP covers that I've ever seen! ← Two drummers.... Two guitarists.!!!!! Wow! How does that sound?!?! As the wise man once said, "I gotta get me one of those!" Quote
robviti Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Two drummers.... Two guitarists.!!!!! Wow! How does that sound?!?! As the wise man once said, "I gotta get me one of those!" ← some of the tracks feature burrell and blakey, while others feature mcfadden and bailey. there are no tracks that feature both guitarists or both drummers. Soulstation1 Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 on judo mambo is that "judo effect" done with the guitar? Quote
CJ Shearn Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 yes, SS1, its that percussive way of playing that Ray Crawford developed in the Ahmad Jamal trio. Quote

Free For All Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 Man! The Smith, Hutcherson and Tyner are all outstanding (those were the ones I wasn't familar with). I think the sound is excellent! Quote
ASNL77 Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 (edited) Got the L.Smith, J.Smith, Tyner and Hutcherson today. These are the first American Blue Note RVGs I buy from CDuniverse. Great! But what are these silly sticky labels at the top of the jewel cases about????They are impossible to remove and leave awful marks on the case! EMI Europe can't spell the name of the musicians on their sleeves and use their Copy control system. In the States they use these stupid labels. Any chance of getting everything right at some point or is it too much to ask?! Sorry, I had to lash out but the music is superb. I love 'Think' Edited August 31, 2005 by ASNL77 Quote
RDK Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Yeah, the stickers that Capitol/EMI use are particularly, um, sticky and hard to remove. Other labels use a different brand of sticker that peals off much easier. Quote
