ghost of miles Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, pass on Anita and J.J., whatever one does! Quote
tranemonk Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) I COMPELTELY AGREE ABOUT THE O'DAY!!!!!!!!! DO IT! I bought kinda on a whim... and I LOVE it.... IMHO This is the best vocalist box they've put out by far.... And you KNOW this stuff ain't gonna get reissued.... I'm extremely happy with the O'Day..... So I'd grab it.... The JJ I have and only gave 1 spin and wasn't thrilled with it... I hope someday I'll get a better take on it.... You know the website... Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, pass on Anita and J.J., whatever one does! ← Edited July 25, 2005 by tranemonk Quote
Ron S Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Well, I've been ready for some time to pull the trigger on the J.J. as soon as it went into "running low" or "last chance" but, thanks to Ghost's "directive" and other comments I've read previously on this Board, I just ordered both J.J. and Anita. Quote
tranemonk Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 speaking of updates on the web... the Jazz Crusaders is up for pre-order online.... already ordered mine.... Quote
sidewinder Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Wow - I'm glad I picked up the O'Day set from Scott Wenzel at the LP convention recently. Very strongly recommended, I had no idea that it was in imminent 'threat of extinction.' I'd be interested in hearing about the Kid Ory too. I have the other 2 sets and they are both worth having, espacially the JJ. Don't miss that one.. Quote
tranemonk Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Good man Ron... I really think you'll like the Anita Well, I've been ready for some time to pull the trigger on the J.J. as soon as it went into "running low" or "last chance" but, thanks to Ghost's "directive" and other comments I've read previously on this Board, I just ordered both J.J. and Anita. ← Quote
Dr. Rat Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Shouldn't we be doing all we can to preserve these precious resources, rather than encouraging people to go out and buy them? --eric Quote
JSngry Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Buying them is preserving them. At least in my house it is... Quote
J.A.W. Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Grab the JJJ set while you can. It's one of my favorite Mosaics Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 i was surprised on anita o'day i heard some of her tunes over on sirius ss1 Quote
sidewinder Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 The Anita O'Day set has gone straight to 'Last Chance' and very suddenly. Maybe Mosaic have just got a reminder from Universal that this one is about to time out on its 5-year period. The other sets I guess must just have run low on the remaining stock. Quote
brownie Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 The JJ Johnson set is one to get as soon as possible! Quite a number of outstanding sessions in that box. Same for the Anita O'Day! Quote
Big Wheel Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Great...there's nothing like a Mosaic Last Chance notice to throw a monkey wrench in the monthly budget... Quote
BFrank Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 DAMN! No way I could afford both JJ and O'Day. Might have to pick just one. Quote
tranemonk Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 I bought my O'Day set about 2 months ago and it's #2804 of 7500... so it's clear they're running outta time.... grab it.... Quote
Hiptobird Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) Does anyone know how much of the Anita material is available as individual CD reissues? Thanks Edited July 25, 2005 by Hiptobird Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 DAMN! No way I could afford both JJ and O'Day. Might have to pick just one. ← i can't afford BOTH JJ is cheaper Quote
BFrank Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Considering I have so much more music like JJ than Anita, I'm leaning towards O'Day, but both are pretty pricey. I might not be in the running for either, right now. I'll have to do some thinking on this one. Even though AO is on Last Chance, I don't think it's going to disappear as fast as Byrd/Adams did, if only because of the price. Quote
TheMusicalMarine Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 There is now one less Anita O'Day Mosaic for sale. Quote
ASNL77 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 Does anyone know how many Anita O'Day sets they have left? I am not a big fan of vocal jazz and this is very bad timing 'walletwise'! Are we talking days, weeks or months before this one goes OOP? I am definitely going to pull the trigger for the Johnson set but I don't want to let the O'Day go if it is a real pearl! My bank account is going I must change job. Teaching does not pay enough to keep up with Mosaic! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 email them @ info@mosaicrecords.com Quote
tranemonk Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 I would do one better and call them at 9:01am EST tommorrow... they're very good at that kinda stuff... 203.327.7111 good luck... and for what its' worth.... I have both and prefer the Anita.... email them @ info@mosaicrecords.com ← Quote
ASNL77 Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 email them @ info@mosaicrecords.com ← Yep! Just done it. I will let you know the outcome when they get back to me. I hope the O'Day set won't go as quickly as the Byrd/Adams recently. Quote
