Chuck Nessa Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 So, was your "original" a King lp? urmm.. yes - as in Japanese Blue Note - King Record Co. Ltd - GXF 3061 KD ← I got $200 for my promo, how 'bout you? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I neglected to say that was about 12 years ago. Imagine the compounded interest. Quote
Degiorgio Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I got $200 for my promo, how 'bout you? well the auction still has a few days to run - no bids as yet but plenty of interest, I set the price at £60 as a minimum... KD Quote

connoisseur series500 Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Junior Cock was supposed to play that session, but for some reason he backed out. ← You sure it wasn't Tiny Brooks? ← or that great guitarist for Jimmy Smith, known as Eddie Mcfanney! Quote

KD ← That particular vinyl release is pretty rare. Only one issue in Japan I think. Suspect you may get some good bid activity.. Quote
Degiorgio Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 yeah - had plenty of email queries and requests to end the auction early...but I didn't get that much for my copy of Inner Glow which I reckon is much rarer than Oblique. Wish they'd re-issue that session too... KD Quote
sidewinder Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Amen re: 'Inner Glow'. Very nice session. That one really took some getting hold of, didn't realise you'd sold a copy (although I seem to recall a thread from last year which reported one for sale in the UK so that must be it). I think Mosaic might be including it on a Hutcherson Select. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 it could of been worse ....................... Hardcock Quote
Jazzmoose Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I'm curious...did Handcock ever do a record with trombonist Curtis Puller? Quote
brownie Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Not sure... ...but the date with Jack Peegarden did not materialize either! Sorry Quote
Rosco Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 (edited) I'm curious...did Handcock ever do a record with trombonist Curtis Puller? ← I believe the trombonist was Slide Hampton * * This joke may only work in England! Edited July 22, 2005 by Rosco Quote
Aggie87 Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Not necessarily - Sammy Hagar put out "Standing Hampton" a while back (jeez, 1981, didn't realize it was THAT old now). Of course, that doesn't mean most Americans still "get it". Quote
casanovas347 Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 it could of been worse ....................... Hardcock ← what a great name for another herbie-album! Hard as a cock! Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Is this cover really showing up in stores with this error?? If it is and they are fixing it for US distribution, I have to get a copy. It's gonna be quite the humourous rarity. I want one in my collection. Does anyone know the best place to order one? Kevin Quote

I got mine from the merchandise stands at North Sea Jazz, about two weeks ago, and all the copies there had the Handcock cover. Amazon.fr lists this with the same cover but say they won't have it before the 1st of August. The price is 8.75 euros, pretty good for Europe. Edited July 24, 2005 by gnhrtg Quote
Swinging Swede Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Still not worth it, considering the inferior format. Quote
