clifford_thornton Posted September 26, 2024 Report Posted September 26, 2024 I'll definitely buy this. I've not heard of the label before. Quote

Pim Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 Well @mjazzg we just recently discussed the fact that I still needed to see Mr Parker perform live. I think I just found an opportunity he’s coming to the Belgian city of Ghent which is 3 hours driving for me but I decided to make the best of it so I’ll take my wife and we’ll stay for two nights there. Great to have some together time in one of Belgiums most beautiful cities. He’s going to perform at a small jazz festival with no less than Barry Guy and Paul Lovens. Really looking forward to it. Don’t know yet if he’s going to perform in the afternoon or in the evening. I hope the latter as my wife isn’t going to join me and when she has time for herself in the afternoon she’s going shopping and destroy our bank account… Quote
mjazzg Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 (edited) That sounds great Pim, an opportunity not to be missed I saw him with Lovens and Schlippenbach once and Lovens was fantastic. He doesn't travel much these days so Lytton usually makes up the trio over here. You'll just have to empty the bank account on Evan recordings before your wife goes shopping 😀 Edited March 14 by mjazzg Quote
Д.Д. Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 (edited) Today I was revisiting this Parker / Tracey duo live record on Psi: https://www.discogs.com/release/1333058-Stan-Tracey-Evan-Parker-Crevulations and it's truly phenomenal stuff. Parker is playing tenor only, which is a plus as far as I am concerned, and the way he and Tracey develop ideas together is fascinating. I listened to this album three times in a row (don't remember when the last time this happened was)! Psi label is no more, so I encourage everybody to seek this record without delay. There is an earlier studio recording by the same duo (also on Psi), which is definitely good, but this live one is the real deal. Edited March 18 by Д.Д. Quote
