Chuck Nessa
I enjoyed those posts and found them enlightening. Too bad you couldn't move them to another thread. Now it will be more difficult to remember why I distrust Mike somebody from MN. Though the "flirting thread" should have been enough. mikelz777
I enjoyed those posts and found them enlightening. Too bad you couldn't move them to another thread. Now it will be more difficult to remember why I distrust Mike somebody from MN. Though the "flirting thread" should have been enough. I myself found the posts to be very revealing. It didn't look like the topic had yet run it's course but I fear that it probably wouldn't have been a fruitful one had it been continued. As for me, "Mike somebody from MN", my name is actually Scott but I go by Mikelz777 because 10+ years ago when I finally got on the internet I had this unfounded fear of putting my name out into the cyberworld and adopted an internet name made up of a spin on my middle name and last initial (Michael S.) + "777" which has significance to me that I won't go into just now. I just never bothered changing it. There's no need to put me on your "suspect" list. If you ever came to know me you'd find me pretty harmless. As far as the topic goes, OP was one of my gateway artists into jazz with "Night Train" and "Lester Young With The Oscar Peterson Trio". The only other OP CD I have is the one with Clark Terry. Over the years I've come to kind of sit on the fence with him. I think his playing is brilliant but he doesn't really strike the chord in me that makes me want to seek out any more of his recordings. It's never been a matter of disliking things I've heard of his, it's just not risen above "gotta have this" for me. I think he can comp with the best of them and I've loved him in every sideman role I've heard him in (of which I have several). The love him and relative indifference toward him balances out to a positive-neutral position for me. Still, I'm sorry to see him go. He's of an era where there aren't many left.
