JSngry Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Looking at the Chris Sheridan Bio Discography, it looks like the live unissued 1966 recordings might be the following: Cannonball (as) Nat (cornet) Zawinul (piano) Herbie Lewis (bass) Roy McCurdy (d) Live at "the Club", Chicago 3/18/66: Money in the Pocket Stardust 3/19/66 Hear Me Talking to You Requiem for a Jazz Musician Theme 3/20/66 The Sticks Cannon's Theme Fiddler on the Roof Jive Samba I Can't Get Started Manha de Carnaval← No, not really, June Christy, Stan Kenton or post-1960 Cannonball are just not my cup of tea. ← Looking at that possible set list, I'd think that any qualms about this being a "compromised" date are probably not too well-founded! If that's in fact what's on there, which we admittedly don't know. But hey - pretty straight ahead set list, and other live recordings from the period show that a tune like "Fiddler" was treated, unlike the studio recording, as an all-out, no holds barred, blowing vehicle. So I for one am looking forward to checking this one out. Hearing Herbie Lewis with this band holds more than a little allure for me as well! Quote
Ed S Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Reiner How 'bout starting to lobby MC for Adderley's Soul Zodiac. I have the French release of Soul of the Bible and dig the hell out of it. Quote
Bluerein Posted July 7, 2005 Author Report Posted July 7, 2005 Ed: finally I can say I hate an album (Soul of the Bible that is). I don't know the Zodiac but if it's in the same vein I won't ask MC for it because I know he won't like it either. Quote
Ed S Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Hey, there's always Water! I thought I would hate Soul of the Bible too - almost did not buy it. For whatever reason, I really dig it. VERY late 60ish. Quote
