:tup:tup:tup:tup:tup

That's a GOOD'un!

I take it that the 1.5 rating from AMG (not BMG as I wrote originally) should be ignored?

Is the live 1966 date with the same lineup as Mercy Mercy Mercy? What is the tracklist, if you know it?

June's Got Rythmn is excellent; I have a TOCJ and really dig it.

Very excited about Domination; my lp is not primo. And unreleased Cannon? I'm happy!

Jazzcat, I dig Kenton, just finished listning to "Viva Kenton." I need still more. . . .

Yeah, he's a legend. I just made that joke, because last week in Hollywood, inside Amoeba Music, my dad was looking at jazz cd's with me, and looking for like Roger Kelleway, passing four rows of all different Kenton cd's, he says to me, "How many albums does this guy have!?"

Looking at the Chris Sheridan Bio Discography, it looks like the live unissued 1966 recordings might be the following:

Cannonball (as)

Nat (cornet)

Zawinul (piano)

Herbie Lewis (bass)

Roy McCurdy (d)

Live at "the Club", Chicago

3/18/66:

Money in the Pocket

Stardust

3/19/66

Hear Me Talking to You

Requiem for a Jazz Musician

Theme

3/20/66

The Sticks

Cannon's Theme

Fiddler on the Roof

Jive Samba

I Can't Get Started

Manha de Carnaval

This is interesting because the originial Mercy, Mercy, Mercy album (which became the hit for Cannonbal) purported to be recorded at the "Club" in Chicago, but was actually recorded at Capitol's studios in LA. This unissued session appears to be music from the real engagement at the "Club". Should be very interesting and I'm psyched that MC decided to release this.

That's the one I'm going to go for first. Need some more of June's recordings for my weekends.

You're buying EMI's cactuses? I'd rather send them one to shove up... well, you get the picture :g

They play fine on my system(s).

As you know ( ;) ) the copy-protection discussion is a waste of time in my eyes. The stuff sounds as good as it does without copy protection. Whatever other people say, to me, is just jive-ass mumbo jumbo feng shui hi-fi gobbledegook. A way to push up the post count. BS.

JUNE CHRISTY – JUNE’S GOT RHYTHM

I wonder why it took them so long to remember that one. I have an early Fresh Sound Lp reissue of this - it is the jazziest and swingingest album of June I ever heard! Do not miss this one!

I have that TOCJ, too, and it's among my favorite Christy dates. Short but sweet, and nice to hear her in a predominantly uptempo, swinging mode.

...and the cheerful, young ones like everything?

Actually, as a middle-aged person my taste is far broader than it ever was...

Kenton excepted!

The grumpy old men are hard to please I guess......

(I'll take the bait)

No, not really, June Christy, Stan Kenton or post-1960 Cannonball are just not my cup of tea.
