slide_advantage_redoux Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 If this audio rig is real...... Quote
jazzbo Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 I doubt it. Some people have a lot of money. I bet that system sounds incredible! Quote
porcy62 Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 The loudspeakers are from AvantGarde, very efficent horn speakers, with active subwoofers, for triode tube amp. http://avantgarde-usa.com/trio.html Quote
kulu se mama Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 reminds me of a scene from i think "ruthless people." jeff daniels worked in a cheap stereo store, and he would always sell the largest speakers to the dumbest customers. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 From what I know of horn speakers, it's more than just these being "big" for dumb people. These should give incredible presence and dynamics, and are extremely efficient allowing one to use very low powered amplifiers, which in my experience can give the very best of sound. I'd love to have this set up. . . maybe as a second system. . . -_- Quote
porcy62 Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 (edited) From my listening experience I learned that for audio engineers is easier to build good sounding high powered amps than good sounding efficient speakers, but I never listening this system... Edited July 2, 2005 by porcy62 Quote

slide_advantage_redoux Posted July 2, 2005 Author Report Posted July 2, 2005 Now, if someone were able to have a comparable system on 12 volt that you could put in the back of your Ford Van. Imagine pulling up alongside some punk driving his tricked out rice burner, pumping out hiphop at distorted volume through his piss ant aftermarket car stereo. Slowly crank up your system as you play Larry Young's Unity with enough clean power to leave him and his car sitting in the ditch as you drive away. Ahhh, if only....... Quote
wolff Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 First time I've seen Avantgarde's basshorn(the thing in the middle). Another picture.... Quote
Claude Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Yes, but the same is true when looking at the pictures of some of our members' CD collections ... Quote

On the other hand, my better half says my music collection takes up too much room!!! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I wonder if these folks put more money into reading glasses than books. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 (edited) Come on Mark, you just need to get a bigger house! That can just be "one of your rooms." Edited July 14, 2005 by jazzbo Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 You know, you could solve the problem of needing such a high-fidelity system in order to reproduce instruments in a life-like way if you just went out and saw more concerts. But that's not really the point, is it? That's like saying the point of buying a Ferrari is to go to the grocery store every week. Quote
