Man with the Golden Arm Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 don't look like "just" to me .... start mixin the banana daiquiris! Quote
couw Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 damn, now THAT's a big ass ashtray running around in that movie! Quote
king ubu Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 But then who needs this? Who's been waiting? Watch the original, what a moving film! This will be all glossy and full of special effects that add up to nothing but a mediocre film, no? (Why are Hollywoof films looking dead? Because of all the technical computerised stuff?) (Sorry for the rant... says the purist and takes his hat from this thread.) Quote
Brandon Burke Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 I figured Jack Black was going to provide comic relief in this one. Strange to see him play it straight...relatively speaking. I doubt I will see this film however, as if often the case, I am going to vote [yes] on Naomi Watts. Terrible CGI dinosaurs, by the way. Yeesh... Quote
sal Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 (edited) Terrible CGI dinosaurs, by the way. Yeesh... ← I thought so too. The original Jurassic Park's dinosaurs look better, and thats 12 years ago. But then again, its tough to beat out ILM in the effects dept. I'll probably still see the movie though. I liked Lord of the Rings and am curious to chart Peter Jackson's progress. Also, I'm a fan of Adrien Brody and especially Naomi Watts. Edited June 28, 2005 by sal Quote
mgraham333 Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Dinosaurs and gorillas living together, mass hysteria! Quote
Alexander Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 (edited) I loved the LOTR movies, so I'll probably see this. I like the fact that it's set in the 30s! Edited June 28, 2005 by Alexander Quote
Jazzmoose Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Oh come on; they're remaking this again? What's next, A Star is Born with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears?? (Gawd, I hope no Hollywood types are reading this; if so, it ain't my fault!) Quote
Kalo Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Now, Jack Black playing the ape role would be worth checking out. Quote

Yeesh... ← Jack Black (Carl Denham) does get some laughs, but mostly plays it straight. Re: the CGI dinosaurs, much of the SFX is still being worked on. This is gonna be huge. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 just remember to bring lots of tissues! Quote
BruceH Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 But then who needs this? Who's been waiting? Watch the original, what a moving film! Got to agree with Ubu on this one. ....And Jack Black playing the role of Carl Denham? Methinks no thank-you. Quote
RDK Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I'm seeing it tomorrow night. I'll let you know. Quote
Adam Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 click What language is that in the sub & supertitles? This is leaked slightly early. Quote

One of the things I liked about his Tolkein production was the lack of - for the most part - of "stars". Quote

(Sorry for the rant... says the purist and takes his hat from this thread.) I truly hope this is not true. I'm not a big Star Wars watcher aside from the marvelous workmanship that goes on but am looking forward to this as the original is more than a classic! I did however see a clip of the mountaintop love in scene and it looked exactly as Flurin predicts. Matte paintings that are all Maxfield Parrish and a gorilla that sits a few yards from where he really is. I hope it comes off as good as the work that went into it. RDK, tell us if Naomi reprises her Mullholland method. Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 click What language is that in the sub & supertitles? This is leaked slightly early. Holy crap. I realize that isn't the best video quality, but from the looks of that it seems like WETA is kicking ILM's ass. Wow. Quote
7/4 Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 I think I'll have to see this one. And it look's like a great theme park ride. After falling and falling, you end up - splat - in a swamp. Quote
BERIGAN Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) I really didn't have any interest in seeing this film, agreed with why the bleep remake it...but...I have read some glowing, glowing reviews of it and that clip... Edited December 7, 2005 by BERIGAN Quote
Adam Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 You'd think the person who was going to go to the trouble of pirating that clip from a DVD that is not yet out could have at least used a tripod to shoot it off their TV, and not done it hand held! Quote
