Alexander Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I know Homestar has been brought up in a couple of threads, but I think it's past time that this brilliantly funny cartoon get its own thread. What's your favorite Homestar character? Favorite cartoon? Line? I'd have to say that my favorite character is Homestar himself. His cockeyed innocence/optimisim is winning and funny. Plus his voice just cracks me up! "Before I drink a tall glass of melonade, I like to eat about 147 Fluffy-Puff Marshmallows!" Strongbad is the Daffy Duck figure in the Homestar universe. He thinks only of himself and hates for anyone else to get the attention. Like Daffy, Strong Bad is also a deeply flawed character who is blind to his faults. He's got a pretty hilarious voice too! "Why you lazy crap for crap!" I've been getting into Teen Girl Squad lately. Issue #9 (just posted yesterday) is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Driver's Ed'ed! My favorite line? "Here come the Thnikkaman!" So how about some love for Homestar? Quote
Jim Dye Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 (edited) I'm an H*R junkie. My soon to be 3-year-old knows all kind of lines, including "Here Comes The Thnikkaman!" There is so much stuff on the web, it would take months to view it all. Does anyone have the sbemail DVD set? I'm almost ready to order it. So Good! Edited June 21, 2005 by Jim Dye Quote

Guy Berger Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I was a nut about this site a year or two ago but the Strongbad emails stopped being funny and clever at a certain point. A lot of the best ones are the earliest, when it was just him talking and typing. Anything good since "Dangeresque Three"? I was never that into the other parts of the website -- though Teen Girl Squad was hilarious. As far as the characters, I think aside from Strong Bad and the Cheat they're all pretty annoying though obviously they can be funny in context. I'd say my favorite HR bit is the 1st strong bad email: Dear Strong Bad, Do you take your wrestling mask and boxing gloves off before you go to bed? Sincerely, Abdi LaRue San Diego, CA STRONG BAD: Well, that's a stupid question, Abdi. Do you take off your face and hands before you go to bed? And if so, are you some kind of robot? And if so, what kind of powers do you have? Do you use them for good, or for awesome? Would you like to join forces? I just happen to be the greatest criminal mind of our time. —Strong Bad Okay, until next time. Keep sending me your questions, and I will make fun of you... I mean, answer them. Quote

Every line he utters is bizarrely funny, and they use him sparingly, so it doesn't get old. Also, I thought the evolution of Homsar was pretty hilarious--someone misspelled "Homestar" in a SB email and rather than point that out, they just created a new character that was a weird-ass version of Homestar. Big Wheel Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Here's one thing that confuses me about the site: Where did the early emails come from? I mean, it's not like the characters of Strong Bad and Homestar Runner were particularly well known until after quite a bunch of SB emails had piled up, right? So how did anyone know about the whole backstory of Strong Bad hating Homestar and whatnot to ask about it in an email? Or am I just being dumb and unaware that none of the emails are real questions from the public? Quote

Guy Berger Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 (edited) I went through some of the old Strong Bad emails. Still hilarious. Are they still making them? I quit sometime after "Dangeresque 3" because they stopped being funny, but maybe it's gotten better since then. Alexander Posted September 8, 2007 Author Report Posted September 8, 2007 (edited) The new SB email about the "original Bubs" is really funny. Homestar: I miss Original Bubs! Marzipan: Uh, Homestar? Strongbad made all that up. Homestar: You can't make up eyesight that good! He could always see me...from over there! Original Edited September 8, 2007 by Alexander Quote
