Randy Twizzle Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 "An experiment involving 120 breast-feeding mothers was conducted in Japan. Some women were listening to classical music while others were listening to jazz and pop. There was a 20% increase in the amount of milk produced by the first group of mothers. On the contrary, the milk of those who listened to modern music was reportedly halved. Rock music can destroy the brain through the impact of ultra and infra sounds which are inaudible to the human ear. However, all the organs of a human body can "hear" those sounds. According to Dmitry Azarov, a psychologist, rock music can enhance suicidal tendencies. The results of experiments show that listeners can suffer a faint should the synchronized beating of certain drums exceed the after-threshold level of 100 decibels." http://english.pravda.ru/main/18/90/360/15676_music.html Quote
mikeweil Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 This is old knowledge - it has been tested on milk cows and plants with similar results. Interesting that ancient Inidian musical theory say similar things on the bad influence of these "rock beats" ..... and if you play them louder, it gets worse. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I don't know about rock music, but I'm sure listening to modern pop of the Spears/Duff/Aguilera variety does increase suicidal tendencies. But then I'd rather listen to Suicidal Tendencies than those artists anyway... Quote
Kalo Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Too late to do anything about it in my case: the damage has already been done. Jazzmoose Posted Today, 03:07 PM I don't know about rock music, but I'm sure listening to modern pop of the Spears/Duff/Aguilera variety does increase suicidal tendencies. That style of singing, lost in a miasma of melisma, is indeed depressing. Quote
DTMX Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 I don't know about rock music, but I'm sure listening to modern pop of the Spears/Duff/Aguilera variety... ← Since the study was done in Japan, they were probably listening to that excreable J-Pop... Meanwhile, the dairy industry introduces the newest innovation - the cowPod: Quote
MartyJazz Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 This discussion reminds me of what rock producer/impresario Bill Graham said many years ago in response to the news that high decibel levels of music similar to those present at his concerts had destroyed a statistically significant number of cells in the ear canals of laboratory guinea pigs. He replied, "I'll keep that in mind when I see a rise in guinea pig attendance". -_- Quote
WD45 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Man, they really hate rock: Hard Rock is dangerous for lungs 09/21/2004 19:27 Listening to Hard Rock or Heavy Metal music may be hazardous to one's health. A team of Belgium scientists from the University of Medicine in Brussels managed to draw such conclusion after extensive research work. According to the results, music compositions of the above-mentioned styles can in fact be dangerous and can cause an incurable damage to lungs. More specifically, it may result in pneumothorax, a condition when lungs lose their ability to collect air and breath. The scientists have observed three cases of this condition in young people who attended rock concerts regularly; they have also examined a man who would constantly listen to Hard Rock music in his car. Medics do not recommend those with lung problems to listen to Hard Rock and attend Rock concerts. Results of the studies can be found in the British Medical Journal. http://english.pravda.ru/science/19/94/377/14281_music.html Quote
