RonF
Hoping that some people here still know what a cassette player is.....and knows something about them. The one in our '96 Honda stopped working. When the cassette is inserted, it goes through a series of attempted starts and programs shifts - back and forth and then ejects. Could it just need a thorough cleaning? Or am I looking at money?
Tjazz
Gee, I just bought a SONY portable CD player with car adapters, headphones, indoor plug, and an attached remote control switch for $13 (after $50 rebate) from FYE. Might be a good to time to switch over to CDs.
rostasi
Ron, what timing! This last week I was looking to replace my car cassette player with another one but cheaper (another Prius may be joining the household this autumn). The prob that I was running into was that they are SO cheap, that if you decide to have someone else install it (Best Buy, Fry's...heck, just about ANY stereo store), you'd end up paying, for example $40 install on a $50 - $75 deck(!) Also, try to find someone with more than 1 or 2 in stock. My regular place up near Sngry's house sold their last one 3 weeks ago and said that they could special order. Anyway, for the old car, I'm going real basic CD/mp3 with a direct out for a future iPod if I decide to get one. Appointment in Plano, TX on Monday @ 1PM. Maybe if you self-install, then a cheapy could be the way to go, but you can get a basic CD unit at about $150. rostasi
Also, a direct answer to your question: I think that if it's going back and forth from side A to B and back, etc..., then it sounds like the tension sensor may be shot. Usually one of the first things to go. No music in the 93 Corolla for a few months now - actually quite liberating (but I don't commute). Something about Texas summers tho that make you want tunes again while traveling... --- Now playing: Iancu Dumitrescu - Meteors & Pulsars (II)

chris olivarez
Ron get rid of that tape chewing cassette player and get a cd player for your vehicle. I know spending money sucks but so does having cassettes chewed up,spit out or otherwise rudely ejected.
rostasi
Thanks rostasi. Long live the almighty Tension Sensor! ← No prob Ron! Yesterday and today I spent getting a new basic Eclipse CD/mp3 player and a new amp for the Corolla, but all will be transfered to the Prius this autumn. Yup, Chris is right. You'll hear anew! Rod --- Now playing: Walter Scharf - The Shark Affair
