Dan Gould Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 You know the drill, send PMs as early as possible if you wish to participate. The poll will end Sunday night at 6 pm Eastern time and a winner will be announced forthwith. Quote
jlhoots Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 This is getting somewhat "obscure". I don't have any of these. Are any of them available on CD?? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I think "the drill" that Dan mentions will take care of that... I was out of town the last time, so maybe Dan or someone could go over the drill again??? Quote
pryan Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Jlhoots and Rooster - Dan's post describes the process well. No need for more discussion on this thread, just PM Dan and he will tell you all the details, if you catch my drift... Quote
Big Al Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I don't care which one wins: it's all so good! Great selection, Dan! Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 28, 2003 Author Report Posted June 28, 2003 Folks, as Pryan says, just send me a PM and all shall be revealed. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I voted for the Bennett. An interesting list! Quote
DrJ Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Agreed, nice list Dan. I went with Kynard. Quote
pryan Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I choose the Groove Holmes; unfortunately, I'm the only one so far who's picked it. Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 28, 2003 Author Report Posted June 28, 2003 24 hours to go, folks-will one of the also rans rise up to challenge the Kynard? Quote
Soul Stream Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 I went with the Kynard for totally selfish reasons. It's the only one I don't have, plus it's VERY VERY VERY hard to find. Quote
Brad Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 24 hours to go, folks-will one of the also rans rise up to challenge the Kynard? Does that mean vote early and often? Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 29, 2003 Author Report Posted June 29, 2003 Well, Brad, it doesn't look like too many voted at all ... let alone early and often. But we do have a winner, Charles Kynard, Where It's At on the Pacific Jazz label. Anyone interested in participating is asked to contact me via PM at your very earliest convenience. Quote
Soul Stream Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 Dan, thanks for the interesting twist on AOW. I'm not sure, but 10 votes/participants seems like a fairly strong response. I'm looking forward to it, as are all the others I'm sure. Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 29, 2003 Author Report Posted June 29, 2003 Well, since 23 people voted in the run-off poll for the first "Pick the AOTW" poll, I think 10 is a pretty sharp drop-off. Quote
Soul Stream Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 I think since you narrowed it down to "Organ" dates, that might have turned off some people. But don't let that bother you. I think you probably knew that going in. But, the few who are into it, are VERY into your selections I would imagine. Also, the AOW has probably lost a little steam on a week to week individual basis. But overall, I think it's stronger than ever. People just don't have the time to do EVERY AOW. Members seem to pick and choose the ones they actually participate in. But I think EVERYONE enjoys reading them. Just take a look at how many hits each one gets. Quote
JSngry Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 Yeah, I still need to post on SIGNIFYIN'. LOVE IT! But sometimes I get wrapped up other posts and time runs out. Damn reality! Quote
Brad Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 Well, looks like I'm the only one who voted for Sir Charles. I bow (humbly) to the will of the majority. I only have only one cd by Charles Kynard but a good one, Soul Brotherhood that came out a couple of years ago. Quote
Soul Stream Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Got my Kynard in the mail today! Thanks Dan! I really like this idea. Anyway, haven't had a chance to put in on till now. Halfway through the first track though....and this thing's really smokin'. It may be Kynard's best album if he holds together this pace. Seems like the longer Kynard player organ, the worse it got. So this first album might just be the thing. I'll let you know when I'm done listening. Quote
