Jim Alfredson Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Thanks Al!!! I appreciate your kind words. RDK, someone specifically asked for the Discography forum, so I think I'll keep that. I do like your idea of combining Re-issues and New Releases though... we'll see. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 To answer your begged question, let's just talk about misc. music in the "misc - non-political" thread. I agree with that logic. Quote
catesta Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 You can no longer post images at BNBB. I did however manage to snap a picture of Greg last time over. Quote
alankin Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 The forums look nice. It somehow reminds me of some other forum somewhere. Similar, but different. Quote
wesbed Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 You can no longer post images at BNBB. I did however manage to snap a picture of Greg last time over. Classic. Quote
Theo Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Hey Jim, looks good. And the CD is great! Quote
scottb Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 How can I add one of those cool pictures by my name?? Quote
Use3D Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 How can I add one of those cool pictures by my name?? Check out My Controls menu at the top of the screen (forum title bar). There you can pick an avatar from the list or enter the url of a hosted avatar. Please keep custom avatars 100x100 pixels max and in .gif .jpeg .jpg .swf or .png format. Quote
Jim Dye Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Hey! I have a great avatar here if Jazz Kitten decides to become a member! Quote
mikeb Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 That's a great avatar, Jim! I'll have to show it to my wife ... I'm trying to convince her that we need a couple of young felines around the house. Quote
JohnS Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Thanks Jim, definitely the place for me. John Shelton(on the bnbb) Quote
Wilwin Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I placed my response I think on the wrong forum. Anyway, glad to be aboard and away from the new and improved BNBB. The site looks great. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Thank you, guys! I'll say it again, any suggestions, feel free to let me know either here or email. Quote
kulu se mama Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 b3-er, another refugee here. this place looks great. thanks for taking us on. Quote
Aggie87 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 ...ok ok, I've now washed up on this shore too. I'll echo what I seem to be hearing from a few of the others. This is the best set-up board I've seen of all the choices (thx B3er!). I tried out Harlem for about two minutes, and haven't been back. Don't care for the setup at Jazz Corner. AAJ I like reasonably well enough. My concern for this board is that it won't ultimately pull in revolving new blood. I like you guys well enough (well most of you anyway!), don't get me wrong! But after the exodus from BN is complete, who else is going to tumble into this site? Where will our future softsongs come from? That's one thing AAJ has going for it, albeit to a lesser degree than the "old" BNBB did, since it's a commercial website, and would theoretically draw new posters from the other parts of the site. Anyway, I'm here and at AAJ. Just don't know which one to post to. And I don't want to repeat-post in both places. Sigh... Quote
Free For All Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Thought I'd bump this very old thread up. Kind of fun to read some of the posts form the "beginning". Quote
Aggie87 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 I'd like to apologize for my early concern that this place might not be able to compete with AAJ. It blows that place away, in spades!! Thanks again, Jim. And I still miss softsong, and her little peeing smiley, or whatever it was. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Why haven't I chased everyone away? Quote
Dan Gould Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Say Jim, I've been meaning to ask you for quite a while - you got that McGriff album he did w/Junior Parker that's got that killer version of "In The Heat Of The Night" on it? Well, this is a question asked long ago (and Jim never did answer) but having acquired most of their collaborations recently, I'm curious where this one appeared. Quote
JSngry Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Why haven't I chased everyone away? You do, but you're like peyote - after you make people vomit, you get 'em high like a motherfucker, and they keep coming back. Quote

I've got it on a Capitol LP - The Dudes Doin' Business Capitol ST-569 If you thought that getting to hear Junior Parker singing "The Inner Light" (yeah, the George Harrison/Beatles sitar-laden song about TM) was a thing that would never happen in your lifetime, guess again.
