jasonguthartz Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 The third disc of a 4-CD compilation called "Jazz in Switzerland, 1930-1975" includes these tracks: Alex Rohr Quartet [Alex Rohr (ts), Irene Schweizer (p), Uli Trepte (b), Mani Neumeier (d)] "The 7th Day" (Freddie Hubbard) [6:03] 21-Feb-1964, Zurich Irene Schweizer Trio [irene Schweizer (p), Uli Trepte (b), Mani Neumeier (d)] "Psalm 2" (Schweizer) [7:21] 10-May-1966, Zurich Pierre Favre Trio [Pierre Favre (d), Irene Schweizer (p), George Mraz (b)] "Hinten" (Schweizer) [5:39] 19-Feb-1968, Zurich (go here to listen to these tracks via RealAudio stream; go here to buy the box) Q: Are any of these three tracks included on the 2-CD "Jazz in Zurich" compilation (Intakt CD 099)? thanks, Jason Quote
king ubu Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 (edited) Can't tell you for sure, up for couw!!! (I included the Favre cut on my BFT, btw!) EDIT: here's the tracklist from the Intakt site: CD 1 01 Eddie Brunner and His Original Teddies 02 Elsie und Siro Bianchi-Brunner 03 Hans Kennel Quintet 04 Dollar Brand. African Piano 05 Alex Rohr Quartet 06 Charly Antolini 07 Jazz Rock Experience J.R.E. 08 Metronome Quintet 09 Benny Bailey und Jazz Live Trio 10 DRS-Big Band 11 Remo Rau Memorial Quintet 12 Buddhas Gamblers 13 Robi Weber Quartet (Total Time 75¹17) CD 2 01 Irène Schweizer-Louis Moholo 02 Pierre Favre 03 Harald Haerter 04 Karl ein Karl 05 Nathanael Su - Fredi Lüscher 06 Lucas Niggli Zoom Ensemble 07 Saadet Türköz 08 Chris Wiesendanger Quartet 09 Christoph Gallio 10 Urs Voerkel 11 Noisy Minority 12 Priska Walss - Gabriela Friedli 13 Marianne Racine Quartet 14 Markus Eichenberger - Ivano Torre 15 Peggy Chew - Adrian Frey 16 Co Streiff Sextet 17 Stephan Wittwer 18 Luigi Archetti - Jan Schlegel 19 Nik Bärtsch¹s Mobile Aer (Total Time 77¹25) ********** no Schweizer there, just Schweizer/Moholo - so the question is if the Favre and Rohr cuts are the same as on the Jazz in Switzerland box - my guess is yes, but I can't tell for sure, but Mr. couw may help you! couw Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 only three tracks that feature Irene Schweizer on the 2CD set: - Alex Rohr Quartet - Seventh Day (Hubbard) 6:03 recorded 1964, mentions this was taken from the 1930-1975 box - Irene Schweizer/Louis Moholo - Angel (Pukwana) 4:57 recorded 1986, from the Free Mandela album (Intakt) - Urs Voerkel - Zwischenzeitstück 3 (Voerkel-Schweizer) 3:16 recorded 1997, from Propinquity Zwischenzeitstück Aria (Intakt) Schweizer plays drums so it seems only the Rohr track is included on the 2 disk set Quote

clifford_thornton Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Will have to check these out... I really dig Irene Schweizer. Does anyone else find it funny that her rhythm section (Uli Trepte, Mani Neumeier) went on to form Guru Guru? Quote
