Any of the Jack Johnson or Bitches Brew material.

I always have a penchant for listening to the opening track on Getz's 'The Steamer' at full chat; Blues for Mary Jane.

Other classic stuff includes the track Bag's Groove off that album. Actually there are many; 'Saxophone Collossus' is another -- the whole album.

I believe it has to be A night in Tunisia by Art Blakey etc on Blue Note

This does it for me ...every time....sometimes so much ...I stick it back on again and guess the ending!

The other one was a duo Art did with Paul Chambers...it was on a compilation years ago and then they stuck it on a lost session

I ve'got my love to keep me warm

with Art Blakey and Paul Chambers......sublime

and after you have heard all of them Plaza de Toros by Larry Young

or

Jimmy Smith...title track from Open House again on Blue Note

Last ...I promise

Keith Jarrett Koln Concert on ECM

bye

I love listening to the Basie Mosaics really loud. We're talking close-to-brain-hemmorage-loud. You gotta feel that drive.

Those bands had a wonderful punch.

Favourites when it comes to playing beyond the above-mentioned volume level are "Blues in Hoss Flat", "Corner Pocket", "Jumpin' at the Woodside" and "Battle Royal" from The Count Meets the Duke (Columbia). Those just scream for being played at full throttle.

It also silences the neighbours.

Yes, that loud. :o

The Count's 'Atomic Mr Basie' is another.

I was just listening to this and it didn't seem very dynamic (the sound, not the music which is very dynamic.) I have what I think is the first cd version of it. Has it been remixed for later releases? Is it in stereo?

Not what you might expect "played loud," but this one works for me. Sounds like you're right inside the piano (or conversely that the piano's all around you)...
