7/4 Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Yes, sad. I didn't know she was married to Mel Brooks. Quote
TheMusicalMarine Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Just read the news. RIP. She played a Southern sentator very well in G.I. Jane. Quote
Free For All Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 I recently saw a film she did w/Anthony Hopkins called Charring Cross. Very good film. RIP Quote
Jazzdog Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson...heaven holds a place for those who pray. RIP Quote
SEK Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Anne Bancroft was one of my favorites. She always seemed to bring a soulful resonance to her roles. She and Mel Brooks seemed to share a great love and life together. So my sympathies go out to one of the world's great comedic performers and writers. Quote
catesta Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 How very sad. I loved her, she reminded me of a great aunt I had. RIP, Anne. BTW, if you've never seen the film The Prisoner of Second Avenue with Bancroft and Jack Lemmon, do yourself a favor and watch it. Quote
paul secor Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Always enjoyed seeing her on the screen. She had true style, grace, and presence. Thank you for all you gave to us, Ms. Bancroft. Quote
JSngry Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 A beautiful woman for whom beauty of spirit and physical attractiveness seemed to be so deeply entwined as to ultimately make no difference which was which. Quote
RonF Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 This is really sad. She was very special. Beautiful in every way. Quote
Big Wheel Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Very sad. Mel Brooks is the uncle of a family friend. I hope they are doing well during this tough time. Quote
Stereojack Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 A beautiful woman for whom beauty of spirit and physical attractiveness seemed to be so deeply entwined as to ultimately make no difference which was which. ← Nicely put. One of my favorites. Anybody ever seen a 1960's film entitled "Pumpkin Eater"? Quote

brownie Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Great lady, great actress. Anne Bancroft was superb in 'The Miracle Worker'. Wish I had seen this on stage but watching her performance on screen in the Arthur Penn film adaptation was gripping. Quote
ralphie_boy Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Very sad. She was a great dramatic and comedic actress. Loved her in Fatso with Dom DeLuise. Quote
