On a side note, my favorite Chinese place ever (which, ironically, was owned and run by Mexicans, and right down the street from Dominick's) closed down and turned into a sub-standard hot dog joint.  That was a crushing day my friends...

My favorite Chinese place ever was in Chicago. But that was back in '79, so who knows if it's still there.

I've been there and it's very good.  It can't compare to the two spots on Wooster Street in New Haven though; Frank Pepe's and Sally's Apizza.

Agreed. Any discussion of "best" pizza that doesn't address these two joints doesn't merit reading.

I definately come down on the NY-style side of the NY vs. Chicago debate, but they're really aren't that many good NY-style pizza places in NYC anymore. I live around the corner from Lombardi's, and while it is good, it has definately slipped in the last year or so since they expanded (tip: the pies they deliver are generally much better than those they serve in the restaurant these days).

Beyond Lombardi's, Grimaldi's is great. John's is very good. Lil' Frankies is pretty good. Joe's is great. Other than that, I really can't think of many pizza places I like to go to in the city.
