king ubu Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 including some stoopid marimbas! >>found here<< Juan Vicari and His Orchestra - Mambo [Varsity Records division of RCA, LP-69154, 160kbps] This 10" landed a place in my home just because Mr. Vicari opens with a mambo variation of "The Old Gray Mare." Of all the lovely songs in the world, it was puzzling to find this song selected for a mambo rendition. Why on Earth? What was Vicari thinking? There are other questions, too. Is this the same fellow as Juan Vicari y Su Genial Orquesta who made tango and rhumba 78s for Harmonia and Royale? Who is Juan Vicari? Track 01 - Old Gray Mare Mambo Track 02 - Afron Mambo Track 03 - La Paloma Mambo Track 04 - Mixed Up Mambo Track 05 - Pronto Mambo Track 06 - Juan Mambo Track 07 - Dorotea Mambo Track 08 - Cha Cha Cha Mambo These mp3s have not been cleaned so you are hearing the recording just as if you were here. If you were, we would probably be dancing, because this little record has some happy moments of marimbas and brass with piano combo. Let's dance, shall we? Btw: the "not been cleaned" part can be heard, but it doesn't distract from the music much! Very enjoyable stuff! Quote
