Spontooneous Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Houston will be in Kansas City tonight (May 20) and tomorrow, playing with organist Everette DeVan's group at Bobby's Hangout, 3611 Broadway. Two sets, about 9:30 and 11:30; $10 cover. I was there Thursday night. Some serious greaze was slung. Houston and Everette were both in blazing form, and Bobby Watson played most of the second set with them. Highly recommended to all. B-) Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 You know, I've been thinking about my own "don't get enough respect" thread dedicated to Houston Person. My wife and I saw him this winter in Fort Lauderdale and it was a tremendous show, though the greaze wasn't quite as thick, since he brought a pianist with him, no organ. So we got more of the American Songbook tunes that he's been doing on his Halfnote albums. We definitely weren't complainig though! Houston's a master, and with Teddy Edwards and Stanley T. gone, no one who digs big toned tenor should sleep on this guy. Quote
