Sundog Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Anyone think this could ever happen? Is it economically feasible for a small company like Mosaic to go this route? Seems to me that their excellent reputation would guarantee a certain amount of interest by the jazz buying public. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 They issued a couple of single lps in the early days but think it is highly unlikely now. Quote

JohnJ Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 There was their sampler CD of course. I bought this for around $3 before I had any of their box sets and it piqued my interest. Maybe time for a Mosaic Select sampler. Quote
Patrick Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Wynton Marsalis? Quote
Brad Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 I'm not sure what a single disc would contain as it would be far too brief to have somebody's output or a theme. Quote
brownie Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Leon Eason! I'ld buy this if Mosaic releases it. Enough stuff for a single disc. Quote

Might even have room to squeeze a couple of other LPs by someone else... Quote
Ron S Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 I just wish they'd use a single CD to put out those Buddy Bolden sides they've been sitting on, but noooooooooooo, Cuscuna insists on waiting until they've found enough sides to do a Select. Quote

Enjoy the music, the wonderful fidelity, and the first rate liner notes! Quote
Brad Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I don't believe that's the Mosaic way. That would just make them like anybody else. Quote

andybleaden Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Thats why that Lost Sessions cd was soooooooo nice when it came out. A various artists single cd of other rare tracks would be lovely if not to whet the appetite for future releases.....yes I know it aint cheap ......eh I know too that they would not sell many but hey...it was worth mentioning. They could pilot a download service with that kind of thing...just imagine..Grant Green cd with a download possibility on unreleased stuff...no risk, little cost etc Then they could judge what was gonna sell or not and take it forward. It ain't going to be too often we get the Andrew Hill type of luxury so this must be a way forward. Pleeease Quote
