clifford_thornton Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Supposedly there are private tapes of performances into the late '70s/early '80s (in SF, I think) but I've never known anybody who has heard those. The Tes Esat has been dated at both '71 and '73 (depending on the America discog or Gary Windo's widow). Quote

GA Russell Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 steve novosel-fathead newman's "captain buckles" ak, I saw Steve Novosel in concert in DC with Lloyd McNeal and Eric Gravat in '68. I thought the whole band was great! I didn't hear much of him in the next few years, and then his name cropped up again in the papers as the husband of Roberta Flack. Quote
BruceH Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 Alan Shorter - Orgasm (easy pick!) He does have another one as a leader... But this one is so intense! Short though. Quote

Chas Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Chick Corea - Three Quartets Chick Corea – My Spanish Heart These choices really surprise me ; can't believe I'm going to be the first one to say that Tones For Joan's Bones is the one essential album from Mr. Corea . In my view , the compositions , solos and swing on that album are unmatched by anything else in his oeuvre , save perhaps Now He Sings , Now He Sobs . Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 But dig that cover on My Spanish Heart. And watch those Thetans. Quote
